Overview

Corporate Affairs, Strategic Partnerships is looking for a strategic, innovative, and dynamic individual to lead its corporate giving and employee engagement programs. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Partnerships, this role oversees Orange and Rockland's corporate giving and employee engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with the company's philanthropic focus on social justice, climate change, and careers in clean energy and technology.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead a strategic, cause-related philanthropic impact strategy to advance an equitable clean energy transition and societal climate goals and make data-driven adjustments, as needed, to achieve justice-focused goals.
  • Direct a company-wide employee engagement program that increase employee satisfaction, fosters career development for volunteering employees and enhances external stakeholder relations.
  • Develop and manage the charitable contributions budget allocation annual.
  • Monitor and evaluate grant recommendations to ensure goals are met, maximize efficiency and consistency, and optimize grantmaking application processes and metrics evaluations.
  • Ensure programs are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to community needs, especially marginalized and under resourced populations.
  • Foster innovation by identifying new, philanthropic opportunities and approaches to justice and sustainability engagement.
  • Develop and lead quarterly business reviews, grant evaluations and annual reporting to the Senior Vice President, Corporate Affairs and annually to the Board of Directors
  • Ensure performance management and team development.
  • Oversee compliance with local, state and federal laws as it relates to grantmaking.
  • Serves as the budget coordinator for the O&R fuel funds, The Neighbor Fund and NJ Shares
  • This is a hybrid position with a minimum of three days in the office, one of which will be a 4 Irving Place, New York City and two days at Blue Hill in Pearl River.
  • May perform other related assignments as directed by the Director, Strategic Partnerships
  • Serves as emergency responder and participates in all aspects of Corporate Affairs responsibilities during emergencies and assists in preparation of emergency preparedness information.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 years Related work experience or
  • Master's Degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration or related field preferred and 3 years Related work experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Strong technical skills, including expertise in nonprofit management and/or grant making, required.
  • Direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Self-directed and able to contribute individually and as a member of a team, required.
  • Strong attention to details and a firm commitment to meeting deadlines, required.
  • Demonstrate a positive work ethic as well as understand the importance of personal accountability and a commitment to excellence, required.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, responsive and flexible with the ability to handle multiple assignments, required.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities and be passionate about coaching and developing team members, required.
  • Creativity, vision, initiative, good judgement, resiliency, drive, cultural acuity and business acumen, with the ability to command respect and build consensus when necessary, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and exceptional interpersonal skills required to effectively interact with all levels of personnel, required.
  • Experience in leading projects and driving implementation, working across disciplines, function and seniority levels, launching new programs and developing strategies, required.
  • Experience in both the corporate and Orange and Rockland nonprofit spaces, preferred.
  • Quantitative and qualitative analysis skills, preferred.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions that include, noise, confined spaces, and high elevations
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to work on elevated platforms, scaffolds, catwalks, roofs, and/or other equipment
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, and climb ladders and stairs for the duration of the workday
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to travel to company locations to work on storm restoration and heat contingencies
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends, and holidays
  • Use personal vehicle(s), and be able to transport, store, and secure company laptops and other job-related equipment in vehicle. Acknowledge that reimbursement for use of personal vehicle is available through the company mileage procedure
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territories, as needed.
