A Brief Overview

The position is a key contributor in the UH Office of Government & Community Relations in the effort to execute the UH System's mission To Heal. To Teach. To Discover. This position will work closely with the Manger, Public Policy & Community Health Engagement to support the implementation of a system-wide community health investment strategy that promotes health equity and wellness with a specific focus on the UH West and South Market Regions. This entails project management experience, critical thinking, effective communication skills and knowledge of community health improvement. Additionally, this position will support the Government Relations team in various advocacy efforts at the federal, state, and local levels, including tracking and conducting research on relevant legislation and assisting with developing relationships with government officials.

What You Will Do



  • Community Health Engagement & Investment:

    * Supports implementation of a system-wide community health investment strategy with a specific focus on the work of the UH West and South Market Regions

    * Assists with various responsibilities related to Community Health Needs Assessments (CHNAs) and Community Health Implementation Strategies for UH hospitals in the West and South Market Regions, such as conducting qualitative research and compiling reports

    * Project management to support the timely and effective implementation of community health investment strategy

    * Builds rapport, facilitates meetings, and presents information to internal and external stakeholders

    * Assists as needed with the completion of quarterly Community Benefit Scorecard and Community Benefit Inventory of Social Accountability (CBISA) reporting for the West and South Market Regions to monitor the level and type of community benefit investment

    * Gathers and analyzes data and information to inform decision making

    * Curates content for community health-specific communications (internal and external)

    * Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to complete tasks in a timely manner

    * Administrative duties such as coordinating meetings, data collection, follow-up with stakeholders to achieve established goals and objectives

    * Participates on relevant internal and external committees to exchange information and gain consensus on actions impacting desired outcomes

    * Supports the UH Volunteer Time Off program for UH caregivers

    * Assists with UH Sponsorship/Community Impact application process


  • Government Relations

    * Supports the advocacy efforts of the UH Government Relations team (local, state, and federal)

    * Assists with developing and maintaining relationships with government officials and community stakeholders

    * Plans and executes visits by government officials to UH facilities

    * Participates in the planning and coordination of UH participation in various state and federal advocacy days

    * Assists with monitoring federal and state legislative schedule and relevant legislation

    * Analyzes legislation and determines possible impact to UH

  • Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
