Job Summary Castalia Systems is seeking a dedicated Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Broadcom, VMWare and Omnissa Horizon systems to join our team on the Starburst Program. The Infrastructure Engineer will configure, manage and maintain the physical and virtual infrastructure. Roles and Responsibilities A qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:
- Perform required maintenance operations of several VMware virtual infrastructure in accordance with established schedules and best practices. May require off hour support.
- Implement and maintain ESXi, VM, and vCenter DISA STIGs.
- Install, configure and integrate servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
- Create and Maintain Golden images to be used in the deployment and recompose of Horizon desktop pools.
- Management of zero client hardware using PCoIP and/or Blast to connect to Horizon environment.
- Monitoring of F5 environment servicing Horizon to end users.
- Performing backups, troubleshooting and problem resolution for servers associated with a VMware virtual infrastructure.
- Build highly available server clusters in a vSphere environment.
- Build and configuring virtual networks.
- Document, test and implement virtual services and devices.
- Assess and evaluate current virtual computing infrastructure and provide recommendations for enhancements.
- Create and maintain VM templates used for rapid deployment of virtual machines.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.
- Create and defend system change requests.
- Manage user requests for assistance, application installation and upgrades.
- Configuring and supporting security support infrastructure including backups, anti-virus software, patch management and vulnerability scanner.
- Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of secure computer systems, network servers, and switches.
- Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual and physical servers, and integrate automation processes.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software errors, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
- Create documentation of all work performed to capture configuration and installation procedures.
- Support security staff in compliance and vulnerability audits of computer systems, implementing security remediation, and during accreditation events.
- Work with users to identify needed database design changes required to support changing processes or requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
- DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+ or CISSP preferred) is required on day 1.
- Must have experience deploying and troubleshooting the Omnissa Infrastructure, experience deploying and troubleshooting on premises Broadcomm VmWare Enterprise.
- Must be proficient in estimating time to complete tasks and meet those timelines, have experience in multi-site data replication for virtual deployments, and a strong understanding and knowledge of computer, network, and security systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server environment to include but not limited to Active Directory, DNS and Group policy, experience with Linux bash, and experience implementing computer security.
- Understanding of basic network engineering fundamentals, including: OSI layers, IP addressing, sub-netting, TCP/IP stack, VLANs, DHCP, etc.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and applications as required.
- Ability to adapt both an offensive and defensive mindset to support securing information systems, quickly switch tasks based on changing priorities, work with limited supervision (must be a self-starter with initiative), and ability to work with an extremely risk adverse customer and their policies.
