The Employment Specialist provides individualized job placement and support services to individuals receiving public mental health services. Based at a local mental health agency, they work both as part of that agency's team and as part of a statewide initiative to advance employment for individuals with mental illness. They also serve as a liaison to employers, developing business and community relationships in their local area.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Master's Degree in Education and/or Counseling (specialty in rehabilitation and/or career counseling), or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  2. License/Certifications: Current Certified Rehabilitation Counselor and/or DMH Employment Specialist Certification, or obtain certification within six months from hire date required.
  3. Experience: One year of relevant experience required.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
