City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County's only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care-from prevention through survivorship-will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn't standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

City of Hope is seeking a full-time Clinical Social Worker II to join our team at the new Orange County hospital. The CSW II provides medical social work services including psychosocial assessments, supportive counseling, therapeutic interventions, and resource coordination. Candidates must hold an MSW, have passed the BBS Ethics exam, and be eligible to sit for or have passed the LCSW exam. This role also involves crisis intervention, interdisciplinary collaboration, and may include clinical supervision, support group facilitation, and participation in program development and performance improvement initiatives.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Provides timely, compassionate, and respectful psychosocial support and crisis management across the care continuum.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence and delivers high-quality care aligned with City of Hope and professional standards.
  • Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary teams and serves as a liaison to Supportive Care Medicine services.
  • Communicates clearly and documents thoroughly in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards.
  • Actively engages in performance improvement, program development, and institutional committees.
  • Pursues professional growth through licensure, education, and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE- Accredited School of Social Work
  • Two years medical social work
  • Out of state Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Active registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • CSW II must pass the LCSW exam and become a LCSW in the state of California within one year or be demoted to CSW I
  • For pediatric service, CCS Panel provider or complete application within 60 days of hire
  • One-year oncology social work (Preferred)
