MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST

Metropolitan Behavioral Health (a UHS Facility)

A growing, 144-bed behavioral health facility - Metropolitan Behavioral Hospital will provide a full continuum of inpatient services across the entire patient population, including specialty programs to serve adolescents, adults and older adults, and perform behavioral health assessments 24 hours a day. Additionally, programs for co-occurring behavioral health and substance use issues will be offered to meet the unique needs of this patient population. The facility will provide a robust outpatient program utilizing a combination of group, family and individual therapy.

Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Plant Operations, the Maintenance Specialist performs a variety of maintenance and repair functions throughout the facility and is an active in surveillance duties related to patient and visitors.

  • Participates in preventative maintenance program of the Plant Operations department.
  • Performs inspection of repair of equipment requiring trade licensing only under the order of the Director of Plant Operations.
  • Performs landscaping duties as required.
  • Perform snow removal as required.
  • Transports supplies/equipment between hospital and residential center as needed utilizing hospital vehicles.
  • Utilizes hospital pick-up truck for snow plowing/salt spreading, when needed.
  • Performs maintenance and repair work including plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting, electrical work, glazing, refrigeration, air conditioning and mechanical repairs.
  • Observes mechanical devices in operation to ascertain problems.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and removes defective parts.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or GED required.
  • Experience in building trades preferred.
  • Satisfactory motor vehicle operation report
  • Valid State of MI Drivers License (Motor Vehicle Check Required)
