Pay: $36.05 per hour

Position Summary

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Audiovisual Lead position are to lead the Audiovisual team under the supervision of the IT Help Desk Manager, be a mentor for service technicians, and provide technical expertise for the delivery of audio-visual services to the Rosalind Franklin University community. This position will perform hands-on functions, especially in the areas of audio-visual service delivery, customer service, and training. This position is full-time on-campus and not remote. This is a bargaining unit position.

The Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides students, faculty, and staff with technology resources and support services that foster the mission, vision, and strategic plan of Rosalind Franklin University. ITS is responsible for the planning, management, and direction of technology initiatives in support of the academic and administrative operations at RFU. We are committed to developing and maintaining highly effective, reliable, secure information systems that support instructional, administrative and research functions.

ITS is composed of professional staff spread across multiple teams with a common set of skills and ambition, and a desire to collaborate both internally and externally with the RFU community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of audiovisual service within an academic environment.
  • Maintain the calendar of scheduled uses for equipment, ensuring simultaneous events are supported with adequate equipment and labor resources.
  • Accept requests directly from customers, discuss requirements, and provide advice and assistance in selecting and using the correct equipment.
  • Work with customers during the pre-production of events and lectures as a consultant on various aspects of production.
  • Participate in the actual production of events and the post-production and completion stages.
  • Maintain inventory of required supplies and equipment, evaluate new media equipment and techniques for application at Rosalind Franklin University, and recommend the purchase of new equipment and supplies. Dispose of obsolete equipment as appropriate.
  • Monitor the status of all ongoing projects and ensure optimal use of available equipment and materials, compliance with stated deadlines, and adherence to established quality standards.
  • Mentor and train audio-visual technicians, IT Help Desk technicians, and/or interns, determining optimal utilization based on workload and skill level considerations.
  • Create and support policies and procedures related to audio-visual services.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a position performing duties similar to those listed above.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Proficiency with productivity software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience working in an academic environment.
  • Experience working with room control systems (i.e. Extron, Crestron, etc.), video conferencing systems (Poly, Logitech, Neat, etc.), and/or digital signage systems.
