Job Summary
The Inventory Management Technician 3 position is an integral member of the healthcare team and is responsible for ensuring inventory supply meets the demands of our patients' needs in a timely manner, ensures pharmacy robotics and automation are stocked and maintained in operational status, and assists in maintaining compliance with UCDH policies and procedures, State and Federal laws and regulations including the 340B Drug Pricing Program and the Drug Supply Chain Security Act, and accrediting bodies. The Technician 3 also provides drug dispensing and distribution activities, compounding medications, maintaining pharmacy automation, prescription billing, processing payments for prescriptions, tracking deliveries and training other personnel as assigned. - California Licensed Pharmacy Technician
- At least 3 years of Outpatient Pharmacy Technician Experience
- Working knowledge of current billing practices for third-party insurances, especially Medicare Part B and California State Medicaid
- Ability to perform pharmaceutical calculations
- Current knowledge of California Pharmacy Law
- Ability to operate pharmacy information systems and other computer programs
- Experienced in non-sterile compounding tasks using equipment including, but not limited to, graduated cylinders, mortars and pestles, scales, stirring machines, etc
- Current working knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand names and drug abbreviations
- Ability to recognize situations that exceed technician authority and ability and must be referred to a pharmacist for resolution
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
- Prior experience in Health System Outpatient Pharmacy. Prior experience working in a Specialty Pharmacy, working for a Pharmacy Benefit Management company Prior Authorization and/or Patient Assistance Program experience, Epic EMR, Willow Ambulatory, specialty pharmacy case management systems and other clinical software experience. Experience ensuring compliance of specialty pharmacy accrediting bodies (i.e. URAC, TJC, ACHC, etc.)
- Experience in MS Office suite: Word, Excel, Power Point and Access
- Experience in chart review and working with health insurance companies.
- Experience with 340B drug pricing program inventory management and 340B accumulator platforms such as Macro Helix
- Experience with acquiring inventory from wholesalers, direct from manufacturers, and other vendors
- Experience running inventory reports and analyzing data for inventory requirements
- Experience correctly and accurately using, maintaining, and troubleshooting pharmacy robotics and automation
- Experience in inventory management at a Health System Outpatient Pharmacy or Specialty Pharmacy
- Working knowledge with EPIC EMR and WAM software specifically with Inventory Management
- Knowledge of current shipping practices for URAC accreditation
- Ability to impart knowledge and develop the skills of students participating in training programs, as well as new hires and staff seeking additional opportunities

Department Overview The Pharmacy Department provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient pharmaceutical services (prescriptions, unit dose, IV admixtures, clinical infusion pumps and teaching) throughout the Medical Center complex 24 hours per day. Work Environment
- UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
