Job Description: The Sr. Specialist I, HRIS plays a critical role in configuring, implementing, and supporting HRIS solutions, with a primary focus on Workday HCM. This position is responsible for researching and resolving complex problems by configuring, testing, and deploying solutions, processes, and integrations. The role also serves as a key contributor in ensuring HR compliance and provides subject matter expertise to Shared Services teams including Total Rewards (Compensation & Benefits) and Payroll. A strong understanding of Workday's AI-powered tools and capabilities is essential to streamline operations and enhance system performance.
Must work PST hours.
- Participate collaboratively in obtaining and documenting business requirements associated with the implementation of Workday HCM.
- Drive Workday HCM testing strategy by defining test scenarios and overseeing processes. Review, test and assist with subsequent upgrades of Workday HCM; collaborate with functional and technical staff to coordinate the application of updates or fixes and document processes and results.
- Maintain the stability of HRIS systems by supporting Workday HCM, including researching, and resolving complex problems, unexpected results or process flaws, provide recommended solutions to resolve issues and assist in executing the solutions by testing, documenting and deploying.
- Create, maintain, and update business processes, notifications, alerts, and validations/condition rules. Monitor workflow and audit for accuracy, security and efficient processing of requests.
- Assist with the creation and maintenance of information on internal benefit and career portal and partner with Marketing on updates to the external career portal.Partner with stakeholders to gather, document, and translate business requirements into effective Workday HCM solutions.
- Lead the development and execution of testing strategies, including defining test scenarios, coordinating user acceptance testing, and ensuring smooth deployment of new Workday features and releases.
- Provide advanced support for Workday HCM modules, including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization of business processes, integrations, and security roles.
- Monitor and analyze system performance, proactively identifying opportunities to leverage Workday's AI-driven tools such as skills cloud, talent optimization, and AI-assisted analytics for enhanced user experience and process automation.
- Design, implement, and refine intelligent workflows using Workday AI functionality to streamline processes.
- Develop and maintain business processes, alerts, validations, and condition rules that utilize predictive insights and intelligent automation capabilities.
- Create and maintain internal HR content, including benefits and career portal resources; collaborate with Marketing on updates to the external career site.
- Stay current on new Workday AI features and participate in roadmap planning to assess how innovations like machine learning recommendations and natural language search can be integrated into the HRIS ecosystem.
- Perform other duties that support the overall objective of the position.
Education Required:
- Bachelor's Degree with coursework in Computer Science, Human Resources, Information Systems Technology, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Experience Required:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in HRIS roles, including hands-on configuration and support.
- 3+ years of direct experience with Workday, including modules such as Core HCM, Onboarding, Absence Management, Time Tracking, Benefits, Payroll, Talent/Performance, Advanced Compensation, Security, and Integrations.
- Demonstrated experience implementing or supporting Workday AI capabilities (e.g., Skills Cloud, Talent Optimization, Machine Learning Forecasts, AI-based Recruiting, and People Analytics).
- 5+ years of professional HR experience with exposure to compliance, benefits administration, data analysis, and payroll/timekeeping functions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of:Workday HCM (required), including AI tools and analytics dashboards. HR policies, procedures, and compliance standards. Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel skills.
- Skill in:Critical thinking and problem solving, written and verbal communication, data interpretation, system configuration, and process analysis.
- Ability to:Support and optimize Workday HCM, especially leveraging AI for efficiency and insight. Manage projects independently and prioritize tasks effectively. Analyze system usage and recommend AI-powered improvements. Work cross-functionally and communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
