The Chemist position for the PCG Group Raw Material Lab is responsible for the timely and efficient testing of raw material technologies in support of our raw material cost savings, PCG Category strategy and managed chemicals to reduce RM risk through planning, executing, and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results demonstrating basic knowledge of chemicals and raw materials. The chemist will also have the opportunity to participate in supplier interactions.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H-1B visa.

  • Proactively manage and drive raw material cost savings, PCG category strategy and managed chemicals to reduce raw material risk.
  • Partner with PCG Business and control lab to plan and execute Raw Material projects.
  • Plan, schedule, execute work, analyze results, and make recommendations based on those results.
  • Host meetings. Summarize, present, and report project findings/conclusions to stakeholders and provide recommendations for actions path forward.
  • Develop more in-depth technical and business knowledge regarding raw materials.
  • Adhere to safety, quality (e.g., ISO), and housekeeping policies and guidelines.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment (without now or in the future needing sponsorship for employment work visa and/or permanent residence status).
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math field.
  • 1 year of formulating experience and/or performing laboratory work
  • Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to determine the difference between colors so you can correctly tint paint to the colors desired by customers.
  • Experience with project support through effective data analysis.
  • Ability to utilize standard software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentations.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Advanced STEM degree
  • Knowledge of Navigator, Tableau and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of statistics and use of Mini Tab
  • Design For Six Sigma Green Belt and/or Black Belt Certification
  • Understanding of basic statistical concepts and applications to analytical problem-solving.
  • Understanding of the functions of typical raw materials used in coatings formulas and possible problems caused by raw materials.


Travel Requirements: 15%

Upon completion of construction, the individual selected for this role will primarily work at the new Sherwin-Williams Global Technology Center in Brecksville, Ohio. Construction is expected to be complete in 2025. Until then, the role will be based at Warrensville Technology Center, located at 4440 Warrensville Center Road, Warrensville Hts, OH 44128.
