Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Linguistics is an undergraduate and graduate academic unit in the College of Arts and Sciences, whose primary purpose is to make new discoveries concerning the nature and history of human languages and to communicate the results of the field through the teaching of the department's faculty. The Department offers undergraduate and master's-level programs in linguistics, with emphasis on phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, language acquisition, and historical linguistics, and a joint MA/PhD program in Hispanic Linguistics in conjunction with the Department of Romance Studies. The Department has nine full-time faculty members. Besides teaching courses, the faculty also host lectures and colloquia and participate in regional, national, and conferences. The Department has about fifteen to twenty graduate students and approximately eighty undergraduate majors.
Position Summary
The Research Assistant will collect data for the Museum of Life and Science. They will recruit participants by speaking to interested parents, and help run the studies which involve interacting with children at the Museum.
