Description

As an Equipment Maintenance Technical Supervisor at Polar Semiconductor in Bloomington, MN, you are responsible for providing work prioritization, support and coordination between Equipment Maintenance Technicians, Equipment Engineers, Process Engineers and Production for a given functional area of responsibility. Monitor daily Maintenance Group activities to ensure Fab priorities are maintained for given functional area of responsibility. Partnering with Equipment Engineers and Process Engineers and engaging shift resources to effectively support continuous improvement activities. Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to preform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers

Job Duties (Supervisor)

  • Supervise Maintenance Technicians across four different shifts.

  • Maintain area performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness of the team.

  • Monitor daily Maintenance Group activity to ensure Fab protocols and priorities are maintained for assigned area.

  • Aligning the Maintenance Technicians with company and department policies and procedures.

  • Interface with Equipment Engineers and Process Engineers for equipment sets in each functional area of responsibility and assign resources to drive improvements.

  • Coordinate and expedite requests/responses to equipment issues prioritized by ProScore, Fab Production Managers, Process Manager, and Maintenance Manager.

  • Interface with Maintenance Technicians and Equipment Engineers for given functional area of responsibility as well as the Maintenance Manager to meet corporate directives.

  • Report on equipment that experiences downtime in the given function area of responsibility and what was done to repair it and/or prevent it from reoccurring.

  • Prepare and deliver performance reviews to Maintenance Technicians in given function area of responsibility.

  • Train and supervise new Maintenance Technicians assigned to given functional area of responsibility.

  • Assist in the selection of new employees for given functional area of responsibility.

  • Support company initiatives, such as: quality, safety and environmental management, CQI, 5S, yield management, and cost containment.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Job Duties (Technical)

  • Complete all required safety training and conduct all work in accordance with safety policies.

  • Troubleshoot, maintain and ensure uptime on all applicable equipment.

  • Perform preventive maintenance & repair/calibration on key process equipment & systems.

  • Provide content for, and submit updates for controlled documentation (PM procedures, check-sheets, work instructions, etc.)

  • Participate on the Emergency Response Team.

  • Safely perform work in a hazardous environment utilizing proper Personal Protective Equipment (including SCBA or respirator).

  • Engage in systematic troubleshooting to identify root-cause of failures.

  • Minimize tool down-time and variability to increase equipment availability.

  • Document all maintenance activities in Equipment Management System.

  • Monitor, analyze, and address SPC issues.

  • Support and maintain 5S activities.

  • Communicate issues effectively to all team members.

  • Contribute to and communicate detailed pass downs to ensure a smooth transition from shift-to-shift.

  • Partner with Production team members, Equipment Engineers, and Process Engineers to support equipment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electronics and control systems, mechanics / robotics, hydraulics, pneumatics and vacuum systems, heat transfer, fluid mechanics. Skill in diagnosing equipment issues. Verbal and written communication.

  • Requires an associate's degree in electronics technology or other relevant curriculum, or a combination of education and substantial directly related experience in semiconductor manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstration of strong leadership ability.

Preferred

  • Leadership experience.

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.

  • Understanding of AC/DC circuits.

  • Understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic circuits.

  • Understanding of vacuum systems.

  • Knowledge of test and calibration equipment (i.e. O-scopes, DMMs).

  • Understanding of SPC principles.

  • PC skills and familiarity with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in trouble shooting electrical circuits and electronic components.

  • Ability to troubleshoot basic, intermediate, and advanced problems and address root causes.

  • Ability to properly use common hand tools.

  • Ability to properly use personal protective equipment.

  • Demonstrated time management and prioritization skills.

  • Ability in multi-tasking complex projects.

  • Ability to follow procedures and work with minimal supervision.

The estimated base pay for the position is $90,000-$125,000 +10% shift differential. The pay offered is based on many factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, job-related experience, skills and level of the position.
