Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer, supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base, TN. As a Network Engineer, you will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for design, support and maintenance of Network Systems and Peripherals for the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to internal and external candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g. application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization, and an important national resource.

AEDC's mission is to conduct developmental tests and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, and ground and flight tests. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

Job Duties:

    Design, implement and maintain networking infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
  • Perform administration, configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of networking hardware, services, and protocols.
  • Interface professionally with BNH leadership and DoD counterparts to provide status and to negotiate proposed solutions, costs, and schedules.
  • Maintain technical proficiency, drive productivity and cost efficiency; engage with vendors, develop solutions, including budgets and schedules, to address future upgrades in terms of hardware and/or software upgrades.
  • Collaboratively work with team members to identify and resolve deficiencies which could impact network health or availability.
  • Provide backup support for the configuration, management, and maintenance of FortiGate and Forcepoint firewalls in a high-availability environment.
  • Assist in the configuration and management of VPNs (IPsec, SSL VPN) for secure remote access.
  • Design and implement network segmentation strategies using Cisco technologies.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco ISE policies for network access control and posture assessment.
  • Monitor Cisco switch performance and identify areas for optimization using SolarWinds NPM.
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize SolarWinds NPM, NCM, and NetFlow to provide comprehensive network monitoring and management capabilities.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of network systems by reviewing vulnerabilities, recommending and implementing improvements, enforcing security policies and safeguards, ensuring consistent documentation and evaluation of cybersecurity requirements, and collaborating with the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) to maintain compliance with information assurance regulations and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Support the use of common work processes and procedures within assigned function across the TOS contract.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date network documentation.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for the network infrastructure.
  • Provide network expertise for collaborative solutions to support AEDC customers and other support contractors and government agencies.
  • Periodically evaluate processes and program effectiveness and take action to maintain continuous improvement.
  • Willing and able to follow instructions, assist in training of co-workers, and cooperate with other employees, customers and contractors.
  • Availability outside of working hours to remediate any issues with Government IT system networks.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT-related field plus 5 to 10 years of progressively relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must currently possess or commit to obtaining any requisite certifications required for assuming administrative role in accordance with DoD 8140 within 6 months of hiring date.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
  • Current US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • Active Cisco CCNA, CCNP certification.
  • Active Top Secret DoD security clearance.
  • Experience working in a DoD environment and familiarity with DoD security requirements.
  • Experience designing, building and managing enterprise network architecture.
  • Experience with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches, including integration with Cisco ISE for network access control.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with the following: Linux\Windows workstation and server environments, mass storage, networking, boundary firewalls and proxies, routing, HPC, patching, ACAS, VMWare, VDI, RHEL, Active Directory, vulnerability management, and SolarWinds.
  • Experience with FortiGate firewall administration and security best practices.
  • PKI Certificate management.
  • Familiarity with DoD security requirements and STIGs.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Skilled at building and maintaining personnel and customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
