Job Profile Summary:

The Compensation Specialist will play an integral role within the Compensation function by effectively partnering with all departments and employees of all levels. Additionally, the Compensation Specialist will ensure data integrity and process controls by performing regular audits from reports in the Workday system. This role will also be responsible for updating various Compensation reports and workbooks to ensure changes occur in real time and field basic to mid-level Compensation requests in support of the Manager, Compensation.

Job Roles

  • Provide compensation recommendations to offer requests in a timely manner, ensuring all variables during evaluation are considered, including YOE, preferred qualifications, internal review for possible compression and such.
  • Consistently look for ways to improve efficiencies in an effort to work smarter with thoughtfulness around strategic objectives relating to the Compensation Department.
  • Perform Job Evaluations for new and current (reclassifications) positions by reviewing job descriptions for completeness, sensibility, accuracy while ensuring essential functions are captures, along with requirements for Education, SKAs, Experience, Certifications, and Licensure.
  • Conduct market survey and competitor analysis for existing and new positions, ensuring adherence to compensation principles and best practice.
  • Effectively partner with Onboarding, HR Service, HRIS, Payroll and other departments to proactively streamline processes and increase customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively ensure success of salary administration by running weekly and monthly audit reports to resolve potential errors in Workday and safeguard data integrity, prior to Payroll.
  • Consistently ensure success of salary administration by updating master Compensation documents in real time, such as:
    • HIR Table Workbook,
    • Job Descriptions,
    • Compensation Priority Report,
    • Week-at-a-Glance,
    • Project Tracker, and
    • Requests Report.
  • Respond timely to basic and mid-level Compensation inquiries from Compensation mailbox, based on FHCSD's pay practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluate both internal and external candidate's YOE and confirm licensure, certification(s), education, experience, and requirement(s) parameters are met for all offers, send to Manager, Compensation in real time.
  • Create detailed reports in Workday including macros for standardization, refinement, and improvement to eliminate duplicative efforts and increase capabilities.
  • Conduct and provide submission for salary survey participation for all Non-Exempt positions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree highly preferred.
  • Traveling between sites and other locations is occasionally required. Must have a valid California driver's license, an automobile, and proof of minimum levels of car insurance as required under California law, although limits of $100,000 are recommended. An acceptable driving record is also required. California law requires all drivers to obtain a valid California driver's license within ten days of establishing residency. Reasonable accommodation may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Mileage and other reimbursement governed by policy.

Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

  • 3 years of experience in Compensation required.
  • 4 years of experience in Human Resources may be substituted.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provide the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform the essential job duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, be flexible, ensure accuracy, and meet changing priorities in a fast-paced, high workload environment.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people possessing diverse cultures, life experiences, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with employees, coworkers, and departments.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.
  • Possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient skills in computer applications and software, including MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Proficient in Excel, especially VLOOKUP function and pivot tables.
  • Prior experience in Workday a big plus.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits.

68,640.00 - 80,271.00

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
