Stellantis' Propulsion Controls Features Engineering Department is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead the design and implementation of cutting-edge controls solutions for next generation propulsion system technologies. Our team is looking for a highly qualified and motivated candidate who can lead the development of propulsion system control strategies for conventional and electrified propulsion systems, delivering results that have a meaningful impact on our product. They must enjoy working on complex cross disciplinary problems and must be comfortable being involved with every step of development from design to in-vehicle prototyping and testing.

The Controls Engineer is responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership in the area of developing propulsion controls solutions, including developing new processes & methodologies. Experience in both propulsion system control development and/or calibration is required. The candidate must be experienced in powertrain control state of the art technologies, including but not limited to the areas of electrified powertrains, conventional engines, and transmissions, with experience in system and control system design, calibration, and testing. The candidate must be a strong team player, systems focused with interdisciplinary experience & expertise, and willing to work in fast paced environment. The Controls Engineer is responsible for both individual technical project deliverables, coordinating activities and bringing projects to successful conclusions.

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related degree field
  • Minimum 3 years of total experience in conventional and electrified propulsion system controls/calibration development
  • Demonstrated ability in control algorithm development methods including virtual co-simulation tools
  • Demonstrated potential to teach, lead and inspire
  • Effective experienced based or analytical problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrated technical leadership on propulsion system control strategy development projects
  • Sustained level of achievement/perf (multiple years of satisfactory performance & leadership ratings)
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and teamwork



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree or higher in a propulsion related field or control related field
  • Specialization in classical and modern control disciplines with propulsion systems application
  • Experience using detailed physics-based plant models for complex problem solving
  • Knowledge of propulsion control system architecture/best practices
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/SIMULINK
  • Experience with 0-D and 1-D physical modeling tools such as GT Power and AMSIM
  • Experience with rapid prototype controllers
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge in propulsion system controls/calibration through published papers and awarded patents
