Overview

We're looking for a dynamic Accounting Shared Services Manager to lead our financial operations with accuracy, accountability, and confidence. In this critical role, you'll take charge of both sides of the ledger-leading and overseeing the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions within a centralized shared services environment. This role ensures timely and accurate processing of transactions, drives operational efficiencies, maintains compliance with accounting standards and internal policies, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. As the Accounting Shared Services Manager, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in optimizing end-to-end financial processes to support organizational goals.


Requirements

Duties Include:

Strategy & Oversight

  • Provide leadership and direction for the AP and AR teams; manage staffing, performance, and professional development.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal departments, stores, and external vendors regarding AP/AR matters.
  • Design and maintain the organizational structure of the shared services team to ensure alignment of roles with departmental goals.
  • Lead or participate in initiatives to drive transactional efficiency, automation, and cost savings.
  • Set department goals and KPIs, monitor performance, and ensure alignment with corporate objectives.

Financial Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain and enforce internal control policies, authorization matrices, audit narratives, and tax rate applications.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations including IRS requirements for 1099 reporting and W-9 documentation.
  • Support external audits and internal reviews by preparing documentation and providing necessary support.

Accounts Payable (AP) Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the AP cycle, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices in compliance with contracts and PO terms.
  • Oversee payment processing (ACH, check, wire) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and proper authorization.
  • Monitor and reconcile the AP sub-ledger; investigate discrepancies and resolve issues proactively.
  • Ensure timely and compliant preparation and submission of 1099 forms.
  • Lead efforts to enhance AP automation, including electronic workflows and invoice scanning solutions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for vendor issues requiring advanced resolution.

Accounts Receivable (AR) Responsibilities

  • Oversee billing, collections, and receivables processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Monitor AR aging reports and drive resolution of outstanding balances in collaboration with stores and category managers.
  • Manage reconciliations of accounts, including unapplied cash, chargebacks, and short payments.
  • Evaluate and maintain customer/vendor credit profiles; oversee credit limit reviews and approval processes.
  • Support month-end close with accurate revenue accruals and AR reporting.

Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build a high-performing, engaged team by mentoring, training, and recognizing team contributions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to streamline processes and resolve accounting-related issues.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and technology enhancements to improve efficiency and data accuracy.

Starting pay is determined based on several factors, which can include the candidate's experience, qualifications, skills, education, and geographic area.
