What we are looking for
SCS Engineers is looking for a Field Project Coordinator for our Des Moines office. You will play a key role in coordinating on site with clients, as well as helping oversee projects in regards to scope, schedules, budget, staffing, and training. You will provide support to the compliance and engineering teams on various projects, including but not limited to landfill inspections, permit renewals, fill plans and expansion plans.

Proficient in understanding and complying with SCS policies and procedures, with a primary focus on:
- The SCS Injury and Illness Prevention Plan (IIPP) as it pertains to the SCS Health & Safety program;
- The SCS Quality Management System as it pertains to the quality of our work; and,
- The SCS Standards of Business Conduct and Ethics as they pertain to our behavior as employee owners at SCS.
- Responsible for assisting with field project management duties, including:
- Preparation of site-specific health and safety plans.
- Review and approval of daily Crew Activity Plans (CAP).
- Preparation of work scopes (plans), schedules, and budgets.
- Financial performance of multiple smaller assigned projects or one large assigned project.
- Manage client expectations and satisfaction with work performed.
- Communications with the project team, including clients, regulatory agencies, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontracted services through purchase and service order processes.
- Responsible for reviewing, approving, and analyzing field data based on project types.
- Provide direction on operational adjustments to environmental control system components based on data review and analysis.
- Prepare, review, and submittal of routine operations reports to the client.
- Complete inspections on equipment and make notes on repairs, flats, or damage to equipment.
- Use tools, ladders, portable saws, and generators to cut pipe to raise or repair gas well piping.
- Use grinders and extrusion welding equipment to repair or expand gas system or leachate piping.
- Repair leachate or condensate pumps. Lift and lower repaired pumps into vaults or sumps.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions of flare start-up/shut-downs, and the GCCS.
- Collaborate with Client Manager, Site Engineering Lead, and/or Compliance Project Manager regarding MSW and Industrial Landfills.
- Participate in internal and project Health and Safety meetings and training.
- Participate in internal and Client meetings as required on projects.
- Attend board/agency/commission meetings for Clients in collaboration with the Client Manager, Site Engineering Lead, and/or Compliance Project Manager.
- Prepares daily logs for work performed on sites during workday.
- Actively participate in the SAFE process by making observations, review and assist in the development of the project health and safety plans including the associated Job Task Safety Analyses.
- Assist in developing training programs and present the training.
- Assist in developing plans and specifications for various design and facility site plans.
- Present at local and regional conferences as applicable.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant landfill operations, landfill OM&M, and/or landfill construction experience is required.
- Minimum of 2 years of landfill training and landfill operations consulting experience is required.
- Current 40-hour Health and Safety, 8-hour Management and Supervisor, OSHA 29 CFR 1910.20, Confined Space Entry, and Trench Excavation Safety training preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record in good standing.
Pay Range
USD $75,000.00 - USD $82,000.00 /Yr.
