Job Purpose

Market Quality Analysis Department (MQAD) experienced engineers coordinate activities to support meeting prescribed department performance measures/targets, progress and countermeasure implementation when necessary to ensure department results.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead initiatives to advance the team's proficiency in Purchasing, category/system knowledge, and supplier quality. Mentor Engineering Staffto support their professional growth, applying engineering principles to enhance their technical skills. Collaborate with the Group Lead to conduct thorough performance assessments, providing data-driven evaluations and actionable recommendations to drive continuous improvement and achieve excellence.
  • Support and lead supplier and market-related issues by spearheading complex investigations to identify root causes. Apply engineering methodologies to develop strategic solutions and negotiate future countermeasures, ensuring continuous improvement and operational stability. Mentor Engineering Staffin problem-solving techniques and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity and collaboration across all departments, while showcasing deep expertise in supplier quality and specific category/systems functions to drive informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate design change activities with responsible departments and suppliers to ensure seamless progress and timely completion of initiatives. Monitor and evaluate warranty claim analysis results, prioritizing them appropriately and ensuring they contain relevant content for effective resolution.
  • Demonstrate advanced technical efficiency and expertise by producing clear, concise, and well-constructed documentation and reports. Utilize data visualization tools to enhance presentations and effectively communicate key insights to quality management.
  • Proactively engage with relevant departments and suppliers to lead and coordinate effective problem containment strategies, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (mechanical or relevant engineering) and/or relevant and strongly related work experience
  • 5+ years of experience based on education; no degree requires 8 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to technically investigate, derive conclusions from observations/data and analytically approach problem cause phenomena. Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with supply base, design functional groups, & knowledge of supplier quality is strongly preferred for positions in the Supplier Warranty (SW) group.

Working Conditions

  • Local travel between plants/buildings on Ohio's campuses will be required
  • Travel to various suppliers within North America is expected to occur at various times throughout a given year (problem
    Investigation specific purposes)
  • Expected 2-8 hours overtime per week, as needed
  • Hands-on, inside vehicle work is expected. Test lab work and test shop work is typically 20% of the time while on-site.
