Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Manager, Technical Accounting to join our Corporate Accounting team. This individual will serve as a subject matter expert on complex accounting issues, ensure compliance with US GAAP and other regulatory requirements, and support the organization with technical accounting guidance related to new or complex transactions. This position will play a critical role in supporting financial reporting accuracy, evaluating accounting implications of business decisions, and maintaining a strong control environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, evaluate, and document the accounting treatment of complex and non-routine transactions (e.g., revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, equity, debt, impairments and derivatives).
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and assess their impact on the company's financial statements.
  • Prepare white papers, technical memos, and accounting policies to support accounting positions and external audit requirements.
  • Partner with business leaders, legal, tax, FP&A & business development teams to ensure proper accounting for strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and policies across the organization.
  • Review and support the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements, including footnotes and disclosures in accordance with SEC and GAAP requirements.
  • Work closely with external auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audit processes.
  • Provide training and guidance to finance and accounting teams on technical topics.
  • Maintain and update the company's accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives, including system upgrades, M&A activity, and IPO/readiness efforts (if applicable).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or related field preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm strongly preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, and technical accounting research.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Experience drafting accounting position papers and working with external auditors.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with ERP systems and reporting tools a plus.
  • Experience in a public company or high-growth private company environment preferred.
  • Exposure to IPO readiness or SOX compliance processes preferred.
  • Experience managing direct reports with a focus on collaboration and accountability preferred.
