Job Description

The University of Missouri School of Social Work seeks a motivated, self-directed individual to serve as a Student Support Specialist II. A successful candidate will coordinate work with the School of Social Work (SSW) Director, SSW Associate Director, Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program Director, Field Director, and SSW staff, to execute management and office related tasks needed to support the BSW program, field program, and the SSW in general. The Support Specialist II will primarily provide support to pre-professional and professional undergraduate social work students but will work with SSW faculty and staff to support all student as needed.

Key responsibilities:

  • Greet the faculty, students, and visitors of the School of Social Work.
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and emails in an efficient and timely manner, occasionally post approved content to social media sites.
  • Manage BSW application process, degree audits, course evaluations, and book selection processes.
  • Work with SSW administrative team to organize agendas, attend department and program meetings, and record minutes.
  • Use myZou to edit class schedules/instructors and generate course permission codes.
  • Provide support to the SSW field education office, including preparing spreadsheets of agency and student information and add practicum agency contracts to the MU contract portal.
  • Arrange room reservations, locate space, and coordinate appointments for SSW programs.
  • Be physically present in the department and generally available to help support faculty, staff, and students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Shift

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience with customer service, student advising, and

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, & Excel.
  • Experience producing data reports through myZou, SIS, Cognos & Qualtrics.
  • Experience with MU Connect and social media platforms.
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member and independently.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $17.05 - $29.69 per hour
Grade: GGS 007
