As Plant Engineer - Instrumentation you will be responsible for performing engineering work in operations, production and maintenance environments. You will supervise the operation, maintenance, and installation of electrical equipment and calibration devices in the biopharmaceutical process facility, in accordance with Biopharm Safety Procedures and cGMPs. You will plan, coordinate, schedule, and oversee daily activities of GSK electricians, metrologists, and contract resources.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Supervises electricians and metrologists and coordinates maintenance activities related to GMS Biopharmaceutical operations.
  • Supervises operation and maintenance of 34,000-volt, 4160 volts, and 480-volt electrical distribution networks including transformers, switches, circuit breakers, contactors and control instrumentation.
  • Supervises operation and maintenance of fire alarm and fire suppression systems including sprinklers, pull stations, detectors and electronic control networks.
  • Supervises operation and maintenance of emergency power systems including uninterruptible power supplies, emergency generators, transfer switches, and associated control networks.
  • Supports the activities of the biopharmaceutical process. Oversees electrical or other repairs to process equipment, process control instruments and related systems.
  • Develops and oversees execution of preventative maintenance plans for electrical distribution system and all electrically powered equipment in the facility.
  • Develops and oversees execution of calibration maintenance plans. Makes recommendations for maintenance frequencies and tasks to enhance equipment life and maintainability.
  • Coordinates with vendors to procure replacement electrical components and calibration devices and ensures that the spare parts inventory is maintained.
  • Sets objectives and goals for individual electricians and work groups that are aligned with departmental and site objectives.
  • Investigates and solves technical problems that involve equipment and processes that affect product quality and equipment reliability.
  • Works with appropriate parties to investigate all adverse equipment and facility related events.
  • Ensures robust corrective actions are in place to prevent recurrence of problems.
Why you? Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelors Degree with engineering focus or a relevant technical discipline
  • 2+ years of related work experience within manufacturing
  • Leadership/People Management experience (led a team of 4+ individuals)
  • Experience developing project plans
  • Prior experience with controls or metrology activities
Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Prior experience engineering or maintaining high voltage electrical equipment
  • Prior pharmaceutical, healthcare, or consumer goods industry experience
  • 2+ years project management experience
  • SAP and CMX proficiency
