Position Close Date: July 12th 2025
The Counselor III provides individual and group counseling services to both mandatory and non-mandatory clients of the Homebase Recovery, Latino Homebase Recovery, Harry Watson House and the Victory Homebase Program and to clients referred by drug courts for treatment services. Services provided include substance abuse and mental health clinical evaluations, development of treatment plans and maintenance of timely documentation.
Education, Training and Experience:
* Master's degree in psychology, social work or behavioral science field is required.
* Ability to register with MHACBO as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP-R) or ability to obtain and maintain active status with an eligible state licensing board.
* Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor certification preferred.
* One year of experience in substance abuse counseling preferred.
* Experience in mental health counseling and provision of clinical services for persons with dual diagnoses.
* Skilled in provision of individual and group counseling using respect and compassion.
* Experience with engagement enhancement strategies.
* Understanding of African American and Latino culture preferred.
* Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
* Experience with electronic health records preferred.

* Reliable form of transportation.
* If recovering from a substance use related disorder, must be able to demonstrate continuous sobriety under nonresidential, independent living conditions for the immediate past two years, and maintain throughout employment duration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide individual and group counseling. Maintain fidelity to treatment models for substance use disorders and mental health treatment.
* Conduct substance abuse, and mental health assessments and clinical evaluations using standardized instruments, ASAM and DSM 5 criteria.
* Write and maintain accurate, timely treatment documentation including progress notes, treatment plans, assessments and summaries, contact logs and termination summaries.
* Follow program policies and procedures and provide services compliant with relevant state and federal treatment regulations and standards.
* Maintain current licenses and certifications; participate in required training as needed.
* Assist in program outreach activities.
* Participate with team members (clinical, administrative and support staff) in a manner that contributes to healthy team functioning.
Other Responsibilities
* Attend and participate in group supervision, dual diagnosis group supervision, individual clinical supervision and other meetings and trainings as requested by supervisor.
* Assist in program development.
* Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: Position is not responsible for supervision of other employees.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full time/part time position; 40 hrs. per week; Monday through Friday 8 am to 5pm, including some evening and weekend hours. Extended hours may be necessary as needed to cover staffing during center hours.
