This is a hybrid 8-10 week opportunity based out of Concord, CA.

Summary & Scope of Position:

Provide paralegal and administrative support to Legal Affairs.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Perform word-processing assignments, proofread, research and compile special reports.
  • Draft, edit, distribute and track agreements for the Company.
  • Prepare execution copies of agreements and collect appropriate signatures/approvals.
  • Prepare and file Section 16 documents with the SEC.
  • Set up and maintain databases, files and logs.
  • Maintain the legal department's tracking tool to keep all team members up to date on current projects.
  • Act as liaison between Cerus scientist's and outside patent counsel preparing authorization documents, invention disclosure forms and obtaining appropriate signatures as needed.
  • Monitor and distribute laboratory notebooks to personnel as needed.
  • Prepare and monitor incoming correspondence.
  • Schedule and set up of meetings, conference calls, in-house seminars and presentations.
  • Assist with board level communications, including preparation of minutes and indexing board actions.
  • Coordinate with finance staff to ensure proper payment of legal department vendors.
  • Perform other related duties as required.


Qualifications/Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years paralegal or legal administration
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications.
  • Professional discretionary skills; ability to understand and deal with confidential matters.
  • Strong organization skills.
  • Flexible; ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Solid communication skills; verbal, written, interpersonal, listening.
  • Time management; schedules, ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.


Compensation: $43-56/hr. Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on various factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the total package to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
