The Sr. Manager, Initial and In Service Safety of Design - USA leads the organization responsible for Initial Safety & MMEL

(Master Minimum Equipment List) and Preventive Maintenance Plan for LH US product based. Technical focal responsible for satisfying customer and business objectives and complies with civil certification rules.

This person in this position will the manager responsible to provide direction and oversight and grow the US System Safety team to achieve engineering targets.

The System Safety managerial chain is multi geographical to enable sharing of processes, methodology, technology and when needed, resources. The Initial and In Service Safety of Design Manager will collaborate with the head of System Safety Technical Area to ensure coherency within this function across all geographies.

Responsible to ensure alignment with establish tools and processes. The company is constantly improving, seeking effective and efficient ways to execute. The Initial and In Service Safety of Design Manager will utilize their experience to make recommendation on process improvement and assist in the adoption/deployment of these improvement across the geographies.

The Initial and In Service Safety of Design Manager is responsible for activities related to certification of aircraft systems. This includes:

* Interfacing with the regulatory authorities to develop and execute certification plans.

* Ensure compliance plans are optimized to meet regulations within program targets.

* Coordinate analysis and other activities across multiple geographies.

* Review and/or author report used to show compliance or support certification effort.

* Resolve certification issues such as non-compliance findings.

The Initial and In Service Safety of Design Manager is responsible for management of plans across multiple programs to ensure accurate cost accounting utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) practices. Budget forecasts will be developed to include labor (internal and contract), tools, and facilities necessary for System Safety statement of work.

Manage Initial and In-Service Safety of Design Office within its reference geography in coherence with LH principles.

Keep technical and managerial responsibility for the Safety activities required for the certification of Leonardo Helicopters US Products.

Keep technical and managerial responsibility for the Master Minimum Equipment List Activities required for the definition of MMEL document approved by the Authority.

Keep technical and managerial responsibility for the Preventive Maintenance Plan definition (including MRB) activities required for the certification.

5.

Provide the CPE Offices with the feedback information on the tasks progresses and arise issues during certification stage.

6.

Schedule, monitor and ensure successful completion of each Safety and MMEL task related to certification / approval.

7.

Schedule, monitor and ensure successful completion of each preventive maintenance plan task related to certification, thus sharing responsibility for the overall helicopter team performance.

Participate in the design process and provide the Technical Areas / Disciplines with all maintainability & preventive maintenance plan (including MRB) requirements and data.

9.

Participate inside Aviation Authorities' working groups in the preparation, improvement, implementation of Maintenance Review Board procedure.

10.

Develop and manage the Living MRB processes in order to ensure, through a systematic analysis of the in-service data, an effective and applicable maintenance plan for the continued airworthiness of the US LH products.

Promote talent/professional development of assigned personnel.

12.

Prepare and manage budgets for the Initial and In-Service Safety of Design Office.

  1. Qualifications for Position:
A. Education
  1. Masters Degree in engineering plus 5 years of experience in similar/contributing roles; Bachelors Degree in engineering plus 8 years of experience in a similar/contributing roles; or Associates degrees with 12 Years of experience in similar/contributing roles
B. Experience
  1. Detailed knowledge about aviation technology.
  2. Experience in engineering design, integration, systems safety or projectengineering;
  3. Substantial experience in analysis of technical drawings, System Safety documents, RMDs, wiring diagrams;
  4. Experience in managing company sensitive topics;
  5. Experience about system safety reports: Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), System Safety Assessments (SSA) (including fault tree analysis, Particular Risk Analysis, Common Mode Analysis), preliminary System Safety Assessments (pSSA);
  6. Experience with system safety reports;
  7. Knowledge about FAA rules for system safety;
  8. Knowledge about aircraft maintenance and repair procedures (MSG-3 Analysis, MRBR, PPH);
  9. Knowledge about MMEL procedure;
  10. Good Knowledge about SAE ARP 4761, SAE ARP 4754, SAE ARP 4754A.
