Job Description Summary:

Leads a team of Patient Accounts Representatives to ensure timely and accurate billing services and customer support.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:
  • Oversees the delegation of responsibilities and the training of the Patient Accounts team.
  • Ensures that all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently and that customer needs are met.
  • Supports team in the verification and processing of patient charges and payments, communication with insurance companies and patients to resolve billing issues, and maintenance of accurate records of financial transactions.
  • Collaborates with other departments, providers, families, and third-party payors to resolve billing needs and operational issues.
  • Assists the Patients Accounts Supervisor in the monitoring and analysis of reports, identifying trends and recommending process improvements.

Education Requirement:
  • High school diploma, required.
  • Associates degree, preferred.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, various claim forms, third party contracts and payment patterns, CPT and ICD9 coding, and reimbursement regulations and policies of third-party payers.
  • The ability to do data entry and work a calculator.
  • Problem identification and problem solving skills are required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Demonstrated traits of teamwork, cooperation, and positive and enthusiastic role model.
  • Strong professional demeanor with the inherent quality to rapidly establish credibility and rapport with staff and customers.

Experience:
  • Three years' experience in medical billing, claims follow-up and customer service, required.
  • One year experience working on a mainframe computer. Experience using Outlook, Word and Excel, required.
