Job Summary
Under general supervision, the MRI Healthcare Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the MRI team and ensuring the efficiency of daily operations. Key responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation and transport, ensuring patients are appropriately screened and ready for imaging procedures, managing and accurately documenting patient information, and actively collaborating with staff to maintain optimal workflow. This role also involves upholding safety protocols specific to the MRI environment and ensuring that the workspace remains clean, organized, and compliant with regulatory standards. Success in this position requires flexibility, attention to detail, and a strong team-oriented mindset to provide seamless and high-quality support to the MRI department.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for placing and removing IVs or accessing ports for patients requiring contrast during MRI procedures. (35%)
  • Safely transport patients between the waiting area, MRI changing rooms, and MRI suite. (20%)
  • Ensure MRI suites are clean, organized, and properly maintained to support a safe and efficient environment. (15%)
  • Assist patients in changing into MRI-appropriate attire and ensure the removal of all ferromagnetic jewelry and clothing. (10%)
  • Responsible for restocking MRI suites with daily-use supplies to ensure they are readily available. (10%)
  • Assist in reviewing the MRI schedule to identify and prepare for any additional patient needs, such as interpreter services or additional MRI preparation (5%)
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the physician, nursing, and technologist staff to help with daily workflow. (5%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a patient care setting, with preferred emphasis on prior experience in a procedural/surgical setting. Required
  • 1-3 years IV and Vascular access experience Required

Licenses:

  • BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
  • EMTB-EMT Basic - CO - State of Colorado (Preferred)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate openly and empathetically with patients and their family members.
  • Basic proficiency in use of computers and software applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to operate and document IV care in Epic EMR.
  • Ability to be adaptable and offer flexibility with schedule as needed.
  • Ability to use a Hoyer lift when needed.
