POSITION SPECIFICS

Penn State Abington seeks engaging and dynamic candidate to fill the newly created position of Success Coaching Coordinator. This position will work in the Chaiken Center for Student Success to supervise a team of peer success coaches and to deliver holistic services that facilitate student success in and out of the classroom. The Coordinator will work with students individually to develop personalized success plans for academic and general life skills. The Coordinator will also develop workshops, structured academic initiatives, as well as other collaborative opportunities that engage faculty, student organizations, and other members of the campus community.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of peer success coaches including training, monitoring, documenting, and assessing performance and program impact.

  • Maintain Canvas course shells: Peer Success Coaching, Peer Succes Coach Training, & the Chaiken Center Community Hub

  • Monitor success coaching scheduling & documentation through Starfish

  • Oversee the administration of LASSI pre and post tests

  • Maintain detailed records of students' LASSI pre- and post-test results and progress in completing the Peer Success Coaching Program

  • Create success skills instructional and marketing materials

  • Provide individual coaching for students on topics of time management, study skills, organizational skills, major and career exploration, internship and job search, professional development, graduate school planning, employer and alumni engagement

  • Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and online resources for students on a range of academic and success skills topics

  • Provide administrative support for the Chaiken Center for Student Success

  • Serve as a liaison to academic departments and related services

  • Perform intentional outreach and interact directly with under-served and under-resourced students, connecting them with resources to navigate barriers to completion & graduation

  • Maintain notes that track student progress, assessment results, and coaching goals through Client Report Forms and Starfish Outcome Notes.

  • Lead/coordinate special projects or initiatives as assigned

Successful candidates will possess:

  • Understanding of and familiarity with effective assessment practices focusing on academic support services

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills

  • Innovation and creativity in program development

  • Proven presentation, group facilitation, and teaching skills

  • Extensive ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide range of constituents

  • Ability to work with a diverse student population

  • Outstanding teamwork abilities

  • Ability to work late afternoon/early evening and, on occasion, weekend hours

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

If filled as Student Success Specialist - Advanced Professional, this position requires: Master's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Student Success Specialist - Intermediate Professional, this position requires: Bachelor's Degree 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $42,100.00 - $67,300.00.
