VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR - COUNSELING & DEVELOPMENT

The School of Human Sciences at Texas Woman's University invites applications for a 9-month visiting Assistant Professor in Counseling and Development. The position is expected to begin in August 2025.

The School of Human Sciences houses programs in Child Development, Child Life, Family Studies, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Counseling & Development. We have two programs in Counseling & Development: an in-person CACREP accredited M.S. in Counseling & Development with tracks in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling and a 100% online M.Ed. in School Counseling.

Advertised salary: $55,000

THE POSITION

The position is a full-time, 9-month visiting position. Successful applicants must be in the dissertation phase of their doctorate or have a Ph.D. in the discipline of Counseling (CACREP-accredited preferred), with a teaching and service record appropriate for the position (described below). The successful candidate will have appreciation for a multidisciplinary environment and a commitment to excellence in graduate education. Faculty will be expected to:



  • Serve as a core faculty member in the Counseling & Development program
  • Teach graduate level theory, clinical, and research
  • Provide clinical supervision to master's-level counseling students
  • Participate in department/university and community service
  • Collaborate on CACREP accreditation related activities
  • Support the university's commitment to student success


Required Qualifications for the Assistant Professor Rank:



  • In dissertation phase or completed Ph.D. in Counseling (preferably from a CACREP accredited program)
  • Eligible for LPC licensure in Texas
  • Documented professional LPC identity
  • Evidence of successful teaching experience
  • Demonstrated clinical competence
  • Willingness to engage in community/university partnerships
