About the Medication Care Coordination Team:

The Medication Care Coordination Team (MCC) is a centralized team that works closely with 6 departments to help obtain prior authorizations (PA's) for high-cost medications, quantity limits, tier exceptions, and non-formulary medications that are ordered by providers. The MCC team covers multiple provider offices and specialties and collaborates with insurance companies, pharmacies, and Corewell Health clinics to obtain the necessary information for completing a prior authorization and ensuring accurate prescription processing at the destination pharmacy.

Specialty Liaison Scope:

Coordinates prior authorization and prescription processing in collaboration with the Corewell Health Specialty Pharmacy (CHSP) staff for specialty medications prescribed for patients of select Corewell Health clinics. Additionally, these liaisons support prior authorization and specialty prescription coordination for specialty medications that are filled at any external specialty pharmacy when prescribed from the covered clinics.

Job Summary

Ability to perform pharmacy technician functions at an authoritative / expert resource level. Ability to be a change agent within assigned work space. Works with multiple medication automation systems. Assists in training team members. Assists with pharmacy projects around process improvement and waste.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to perform all Pharmacy Technician essential functions at an authoritative/expert resource level, under the direction of a pharmacist.
  • Drafts and monitors the technician schedule to ensure adequate coverage of support personnel and make adjustments as needed to meet department requirements.
  • Assists in development, administration and monitoring of staff competencies and department required testing. Provides orientation, in-services and educational opportunities for technicians, interns and support personnel.
  • Continuous communication and collaboration with nursing staff and other Spectrum Health hospital team members to facilitate coordination and improvement of services, as well as problem resolution.
  • Provides monitoring and reports for monthly reports and special projects.
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area.
  • Maintains all requirements for CPhT certifications. Completes all Spectrum Health assigned competencies by assigned due dates.
Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required Associate's Degree or equivalent
  • 3 years of relevant experience Healthcare Required
  • 2 years of relevant experience Pharmacy Technician Preferred
  • LIC-Pharmacy Technician - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required And
  • CRT-Pharmacy Technician, Certified (CPHT) - PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Upon Hire required Or
  • CRT-Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) - NHA National Healthcareer Association Upon Hire required
  • Ideal candidate will possess both Full Pharmacy Technician License and National Certification, such as PTCB or ExCPT
  • Ideal candidate will possess Specialty Pharmacy experience
