DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role, supervised by the Paint Crew Foreman, involves operating the Paint Truck and Supply Truck during the summer and snow removal equipment in the winter. As part of a team, you are tasked with executing the annual paint program work plan, ensuring daily production targets are met while conducting necessary pre-operation safety and maintenance checks on assigned equipment. Findings must be reported both in writing and verbally as needed. You will also assist with end-of-year equipment storage and preseason repairs, notifying the Paint Crew Foreman when supplies such as paint guns and hoses need to be ordered to minimize downtime. Utilizing tools like wrenches and jacks, the operator performs minor repairs and monitors pressure gauges and other indicators to ensure optimal machine performance. By leveraging the latest advancements in pavement marking materials and testing equipment, you will aim to create high-quality paint lines that remain visible year-round, ensuring precise application and placement of both single and dual lines.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours vary from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework:You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program employed by the Commonwealth of PA (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from a Commercial Driver's License Training School; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed. Certain positions may require that the E or O restriction is removed.
  • This position requires possession of a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

  • All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders, and two additional pieces of construction equipment, within the probationary period.
  • Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
  • This position requires the operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission.
  • This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
