About the Role:

We have an exciting opportunity to support our Legal team as a Privacy Specialist based in our Shelton, CT. The Privacy Specialist is responsible for implementing strategic objectives of the Subway Data Privacy Program though day to day program operations. This role provides tactical support and guidance to drive compliance with data privacy and protection regulations. The Privacy Specialist will contribute to the development and implementation of Subway's Global Privacy and Data Protection framework, support internal stakeholders, and foster a culture of privacy awareness across the organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's privacy policies, procedures and governance model.
  • Monitor and interpret privacy laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Work with internal teams to ensure privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles are followed. Advise business units on privacy risks and provide guidance on data handling practices.
  • Support training and awareness programs on privacy and data protection topics.
  • Assist with incident response and data breach investigations, including documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor Privacy in-box and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and other individual rights requests in a timely manner.
  • Assist in company-wide Data Mapping projects and maintain records of processing activities (RoPA) in accordance with applicable laws.
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
  • Review vendor contracts and data processing agreements to ensure appropriate privacy and data protection clauses are included.



Skills and Abilities Required:



  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2-4 years of experience in compliance, legal support, or a related function, ideally in a global organization.
  • Data privacy related industry certification preferred - CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or CIPT.
  • Experience with privacy technologies and tools - OneTrust preferred.
  • Knowledge of privacy regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and other emerging privacy frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, independently manage tasks, prioritize conflicting demands, work cross-functionally, and meet deadlines.

Actual pay is determined based on a number of job-related factors including skills, education, training, credentials, qualifications, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, performance, and working conditions.
