Summary:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for MaineHealth Medical Group (MHMG) works in a dyad partnership with the MHMG CMO and closely with the MHMG President to successfully implement strategic goals, oversee clinical activities, and improve quality across the organization. The role collaborates with the MHMG Chief Financial Officer to ensure financial sustainability of the medical group. The MHMG COO ensures that all MHMG practices operate in a manner that results in consistent and uniform levels of patient service and experience across our medical group with adequate healthcare access for our patients and our community. This role tightly collaborates with hospital and regional operational leadership to ensure seamless care of patients across the continuum.

The MHMG COO reports directly to the MHMG President and is part of the MHMG Senior Leadership Team. The Vice Presidents of Operations for the Southern, Mountain and Coastal MaineHealth regions report directly to the MHMG COO, as does the MHMG CNO, VP of Ambulatory Access and the Director & Manager of Ambulatory Operations. The MHMG COO is responsible for leading the MHMG Operational Leadership Team which manages operations in the MHMG practices across the MaineHealth system.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Master's degree in healthcare management or business administration is preferred. Bachelors Degree required.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A
  3. Experience: Minimum of ten years' experience in a senior management capacity in an ambulatory Medical Group organization preferred.
  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Medical Practice acumen: a high degree of knowledge of finance management, familiarity with ambulatory information systems applications and experience in the supervisor of multiple senior leaders and groups is required.
  5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
