Key Job Responsibilities
- Your primary focus will be maintaining a safe work environment, adhering to established safety protocols to create a culture of safety.
- Lay out and perform complex repairs with precision, ensuring each task is completed with a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Assess equipment repair requirements through thorough analysis, forming effective repair processes that meet operational needs.
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and execute both minor and major repairs on all assigned equipment, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Engage and thrive in a diverse team environment, contributing to teamwork and learning from others' experiences.
- Work efficiently to achieve a billable rate that aligns with departmental and company objectives, understanding how your productivity impacts overall success.
- Minimize loss and spoilage of raw materials or those in process, contributing to the company's bottom line and operational efficiency.
- Lead service crews to ensure that all work performed is safe, efficient, and cost-effective, consistently meeting SLQDC performance standards.
- Address any other requirements as specified by the department manager, always willing to adapt and support the team.
- Facilitate daily safety meetings to reinforce best safety practices among team members.
- Collect and review FLRA cards to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Conduct shift start and daily line-out meetings, clearly communicating tasks and expectations to your team.
- Perform periodic inspections of tooling and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure safety standards are being upheld.
- Collaborate with the department supervisor/manager to outline general short-term tasks, effectively prioritizing workload.
- Assess crews in terms of headcount and competency, strategically assigning tasks to maximize efficiency and team strength.
- Communicate potential concerns regarding materials, tools, labor, quality, environmental health and safety (EHS), and permitting to your supervisor/manager.
- Interact and share valuable feedback from customers and vendors to improve service quality.
- Coach, develop, and train junior technicians, sharing your knowledge to elevate their technical skills and career development.
- Maintain the highest level of technical competency for your applicable trade, actively participating in repair processes as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in the maintenance of mining equipment such as shovels, drills, and loaders is preferred, showcasing your familiarity with the tools of the trade.
- A strong understanding of technical drawings and specifications to complete repairs according to OEM standards, demonstrating your attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel as needed to fulfill business requirements, contributing to projects in various locations to support company operations.
- Reside in the Valley area, allowing you to be available for regular work commitments and engagement with the local team.
- A clean driving record is essential, reflecting responsibility and safety in transportation.
- Ability to utilize precision measuring instruments accurately, ensuring measurements are precise and repairs are executed correctly.
- Completion of a recognized trade apprenticeship or an equivalent technical college education is preferred, reinforcing your foundational skills.
- Flexibility in your work schedule, being adaptable to the demands of the role and operational needs is a plus.
