Position Description:

As a Supervisor-Lab, you will supervise laboratory personnel, and responsible for overseeing daily operations, quality and timeliness of lab activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise staff including hiring, training, performance reviews, coaching and corrective actions; oversee daily operations of the laboratory.
- Develop and perform complex lab research procedures requiring specialized experience in several areas of lab investigation.
- Oversee supplies and ongoing expenses related to area of research.
- Develop and apply standard quality control procedures to assure quality results.
- Create and maintain accurate and timely records of test results, providing information for evaluation and specific recommendations related to the direction of the research.
- Participate in meetings with the principal investigator and staff to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research.
- Analyze data using statistical methodologies; may produce graphic results.
- Demonstrate procures and provide individualized instruction for lab staff, students and residents.
- Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment, train lab staff in its use as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Communicate with researchers in other laboratories; share ideas and research methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the research.
- Keep abreast of research techniques and methodologies that might facilitate designated research projects.
- Supervise the CVRC iPSC Core under the direction of PI. The cardiovascular iPSC core will provide cutting-edge iPSC services to research teams across MCW's campus to facilitate translational research from preclinical animal and cell models into human cells and tissues with the necessary molecular precision for 21st-century research.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities
- Knowledge of biology, chemistry, mathematics, documentation, and records management.
- Data utilization, complex problem solving, critical thinking, resource management, and writing skills.
Preferred Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 some weekends
Position Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.
Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum expereince: 5 years
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred education: Master's Degree
Preferred experience: Prior working in research laboratory; More than 2 years of research experience with iPSC and gene editing
