Overview
Manages the business activities for Risk, Legal and Compliance leadership, which includes documentation, project management, workflow development, process improvement and budget tracking. Communicates clearly and professionally across all levels, and prepares executive-ready reports and presentations to support informed decision-making. Develops, implements, and monitors workflows for Risk, Legal and Compliance programs. Implements systems to manage each program more efficiently and effectively. Works under general supervision

What You Will Do
- Leads strategic and operational projects across Legal, Compliance and Risk departments, managing cross-functional initiatives with minimal oversight. Utilizes strong project management and critical thinking skills to drive execution, improve processes, and enhance document management systems.
- Maps workflows and collaborates with business owners to to close gaps, leveraging technology and AI solutions where appropriate.
- Develops a strong understanding of Risk, Legal, Compliance & HIPAA Privacy Programs; proposes strategies or activities to improve efficacy, efficiency, and/or coherence.
- Collects and analyzes data using Excel to inform strategies, monitor outcomes and deliver clear, actionable reports.
- Leads the development of high-quality reports, memos, and governance materials, including Board and Audit Committee deliverables. Demonstrates advanced reporting and communication skills, and designs executive-ready presentations and compelling visual content to clearly convey complex topics.
- Demonstrates a commitment to excellent customer service through prompt, professional communication, while building collaborative relationships across departments and leadership to support achievement of organizational objectives.
- Organizes and tracks Risk, Compliance and Legal Department budgets and invoices on an ongoing basis.
- Establishes operational goals and objectives for Legal Operations function that will improve in-house counsel's ability to focus on high-risk projects.
- Informs VNS Health business lines on policies, practices and procedures related to Legal Operations function and serves as internal spokesperson on legal operations matters.
- Leads the development, documentation, and implementation of the employee and board member conflict of interest process and oversees the management of the Compliance, Risk & Legal suite of corporate policies, and procedures.
- Supports the Privacy Team with key initiatives including the implementation of new privacy regulations, privacy risk assessment program and enhancing cyber incident response workflows.
- Liaises with external partners, including government officials and vendors, as needed.
- Supports the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) function by coordinating several recurring risk assessment processes, ensuring consistent progress through strong project management. Maintains detailed documentation, tracks milestones, and facilitates collaboration to keep initiatives aligned and on schedule.
- Provides essential support in aligning risk insights with strategic planning and goal-setting, assisting with documentation, coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Relies on strong written and verbal communication skills to ensure clarity, consistency, and responsiveness in all interactions.
- Designs and delivers risk management training and awareness programs to embed a strong risk culture across all levels of the organization.
- Collaborates with leadership to advance risk mitigation strategies for targeted risks, helping to translate risk insights into actionable solutions and drive implementation across the organization.
- Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Paralegal certification (National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA) or
- Master's Degree in public administration, public health, risk or related field preferred
Work Experience:
- Minimum four years of experience in legal, risk or compliance field required
- Strong proficiency with personal computers and applications, including Microsoft Windows Excel, Word, and Power Point required
- Demonstrated business writing and project management and facilitation skills required
Pay Range
USD $98,200.00 - USD $130,800.00 /Yr.
