Requisition Id15069 Overview: Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a dynamic leader to serve as the Director of the Research Accelerator Division (RAD) at the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS). This role includes line management responsibility for the division, oversight of the Operations Field Work Proposal budget, and serving as the SNS Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Neutron Sciences Associate Laboratory Director, the successful candidate will guide an organization of approximately 240 staff, oversee an annual budget of around $104 million, and drive key technical initiatives to sustain ORNL's leadership in high-power hadron linear accelerators. This position also plays a critical role in supporting world-class neutron scattering science and advancing the lab's core capabilities in accelerator science and technology. The Neutron Sciences Directorate (NScD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) operates the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS), the world's most intense pulsed accelerator-based neutron source, and the High Flux Isotope Reactor (HFIR), the United States' highest flux reactor-based neutron source. Together these facilities operate 30+ instruments for neutron scattering and basic nuclear physics research, each year carrying out an excess of 1,000 experiments in the physical, chemical, materials, biological and medical sciences.
