Job Summary:




  • Provide engineering and technical support associated with evaluation, development, adoption and implementation of materials and standards/specifications associated with the construction and operation of CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric (CEHE) systems.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities:




  • Review and approve new material offerings from prospective manufacturers to be used on the CEHE system.
  • Provide continued engineering support to field personnel for implemented materials used on the CEHE system.
  • Work proactively with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities to improve the reliability and operation of the CEHE system.
  • Collaborate in the development and issuance of standards and or design criteria to be used by CEHE.
  • Ensure design adherence to applicable internal standards and procedures, and ensure compliance with external code requirements (NESC, ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, ERCOT, NERC, etc.).
  • Develop documentation including business cases, performance metrics, status reports, and engineering bulletins as required.



Education:




  • Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.



Experience:




  • Requires a minimum of two years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and/or design.
