Aviation Maintenance & Reliability Engineer

QuantiTech is currently seeking a Aviation Maintenance & Reliability Engineer to support our customer in Huntsville, AL.

The Aviation Maintenance & Reliability Engineer will work as part of the Army's Reliability Improvement through Failure Identification and Reporting (RIMFIRE) Project team. The RIMFIRE program provides the Army with a complete Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) on equipment inducted at maintenance facilities. This program is a closed-loop system for identifying and tracking root failure causes of failure and subsequently determining which failures, conditions or maintenance practices should be identified as candidates for corrective action.

This position will combine Aviation Maintenance and Reliability Engineering subject matter expertise to conduct analysis and determine causes of Army Aviation component and systems removal for overhaul. This position will review Tear Down Analysis reports identifying why aviation assets were returned to the depot. This includes identifying all conditions that led to failures in the field or reasons assets were removed without causable condition for depot repair. Immediate assignments will focus on identification of main drivers of equipment removals and reliability. This will involve engineering analysis that includes failure assessments and trending.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide support in areas such as aviation maintenance, reliability engineering, equipment teardown analysis and failure analysis.
  • Develop drafts or recommendations and/or substantiation of depot and field level maintenance policies and procedures, modifications, upgrades, repairs, technical data revision/improvement, field inspection, corrosion prevention and control, developing new depot and field maintenance concepts through analysis of defects in new and existing aircraft.
  • Review and update directives applicable to level-of-maintenance and DOD maintenance decision processes, as well as, repair and enhancement of structural integrity and corrosion resistance.
  • Conduct special project tasks, maintenance programs and other special programs or projects involving U.S. Army and multi-service aircraft, associated power plants, components and subassembly items.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must currently possess an active and transferrable DoD security clearance with active investigation.
  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited college in an Engineering discipline or Applied Mathematics or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related work experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with aircraft technical publications (IETM, ASAM/SOF, TB, DMWR)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDR)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly desired experience working as or with aviation maintenance personnel and processes.
  • Knowledge of aircraft propulsion systems design, development and analysis. Knowledge and experience working with databases to extract data for analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Army Database software applications such as ULLS-A, RIMFIRE, FMAS, ASAP, MCDS, JDRS, PDREP, TAMMS-A.
