As a CNC Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting various Engineering departments in the development of new technologies and products. This role will become fluent in all client manufacturing requirements based upon New Product Development (NPD) product designs, including the desired output of the machinery to be automated, the design of the components to be manufactured, the sequence of the machine operations and total time that the operational process requires. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product management, pilot production, and test lab to deliver high-quality products and solutions. It requires practical technical judgment, and decision-making using standard procedures, sophisticated methods and adaptability to evolving business demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Validate new product designs and developments to ensure the robustness of the new products
  • Maintain a solid understanding of CAD file structures and their relations to Bill of Materials.
  • Business acumen with the new product design implications of cost and decision; research and implement emerging MFG methods and processes to reduce the waste and material costs.
  • Align work objectively with the company strategic goals.
  • Program, set up, produce, and inspect machined components of department CNC equipment. (Twin Spindle Single Turret CNC 7 Axis Lathe, 4 Axis VMC w/Probe).
  • Interpret Engineered Drawings and Specifications.
  • Understand and Operate Precision measuring equipment.
  • Maximize CNC Machine Tool Performance and Capability.
  • Maintain Standard Cutting Tool Inventory. Continually improve Standard tool effectiveness.
  • Understand and employ optimum cutting conditions for the materials specified.
  • Collaborate with engineering personnel to understand requirements and optimize production methods.
  • Promote and maintain a team environment with open communication to ensure continuous and efficient productivity.
  • Perform General Equipment Preventative Maintenance tasks.
  • All other duties as required.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or related experience
  • Technical Engineering Certification that encompasses competence and theoretical knowledge equivalent to a standard curriculum of an accredited BS degree in Engineering.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of experience in CNC programming, set-up and operation of CNC machining equipment including CAM programming and CAD knowledge.
  • Proficient knowledge with G-Code Programming
  • Proficient knowledge of CAD/CAM Software.
  • Working knowledge of FEA, EdgeCam, Inventor a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) approaches.
  • Working knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metals, adhesives, etc.
  • Practical knowledge in product testing, validation plans, and analysis experience such as, FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments.
  • Strong decision making, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required for interaction with various engineering teams.
  • Work effectively in a collaborative team environment with a focus on advancing technical leadership.
  • Results-oriented, ability to work independently on multiple projects with periodic supervision and guidance.
  • Possesses effective verbal, written, and presentation skills, and capable of interacting with various levels of management.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in work assignments to effectively meet the team's needs.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 Applications a plus.
  • Practical experience in HVAC or electric or hydronic heating systems a plus.
  • Previous engineering experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISION:

Works under the general supervision of the Manager, Pilot, Prototyping, and Test Services.

No direct reports.
