Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women's and 10 men's programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation's premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as "The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Assistant II for the Athletics Finance & Administration department. This position supports the daily operations of the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics by managing key administrative and financial functions.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Handles employee onboarding, contract processing, payroll administration, accounts payable, and data compilation for reporting purposes.
  • Manages the Kronos timekeeping system to ensure accurate payroll processing and serves as the primary liaison for all payroll-related matters.
  • Manages employee onboarding and offboarding in the University's PeopleSoft system, ensuring the completion of contracts, confidentiality agreements, background checks, and other required documentation.
  • Maintains the departmental staff database, posting job vacancies in the ROCS system, and supporting the implementation of process improvements to streamline internal operations.
  • Ensures compliance with university policies and labor regulations.
  • Handles various accounting and administrative tasks, including onboarding game day staff and processing purchase orders and check requests for submitted invoices.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration, accounting, finance or Human Resources; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP).
Certifications/Licenses
  • A valid driver's license would be required for this position; Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology, and applied bases of accounting.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Access software.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant financial/accounting function experience in sports management.

  • RIAS/PeopleSoft knowledge.
