Job DescriptionThe Campus Store Customer Service Associate positions responsibilities will vary from providing customer services to the public in a friendly and courteous manner in person and/or by phone or electronically. Cashier duties which involve the receipt and custody of cash, checks, money orders, credit card charges, to sponsored students, and online web orders with the proper paperwork and information. Monitor and process graduation orders, sizing, stocking, etc. Learn and work with the Point of Sale (POS) system. Assist with processing Online and Sponsorship orders. Be able to multitask and have advanced computer skills. General clerical skills to include but not limited to operating office machines, calculator, copy and fax machines, etc. Maintain the store floor in proper order and stocked. Assist with Cafe duties and responsibilities as needed. Assist with other Campus Store processes and duties as required. This position will work under the direction of the Campus Store manager or their designee.

Essential Functions

  • Provide assistance to all customers while maintaining good customer relations, being courteous and responsive.
  • Operate computer, inventory control, cash register, rings all sales on register.
  • Provide assistance to the Statewide Campus Store team as it relates to the maintenance of inventory and preparation of merchandise for the retail floors.
  • Receive cash, checks, money orders, student cards or credit cards.
  • Generate receipts for all sales and refunds for returned merchandise as appropriate to bookstore policies.
  • Responsible for all cash, credit cards, checks, money orders and charge receipts for the register receipts.
  • Issue and charge merchandise to authorized departments as per school policies.
  • Prepare charges for all sponsored students with the correct paperwork and identification. Set up and maintain individual files for all sponsored students.
  • Prepare charges for departments.
  • Provide assistance to customers as needed.
  • Answer telephones, receive and transmit messages.
  • Relate to the public in a positive manner.
  • Provide good customer relations by being courteous and responsive.
  • Perform light housekeeping including dusting and keeping all assigned areas clean and straight. Stock, arrange and display all bookstore merchandise including books. Affix retail tags to merchandise and fixtures as required.
  • Assist in counting of stock for inventory.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year retail inventory experience.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to work under stress in a busy environment.
  • Ability to operate a PC-based automated cash register/inventory system and general office machines.
  • Ability to handle monetary transactions.
  • Ability to answer telephones, receive and transmit messages.
  • Ability to provide service and assistance to students.
  • Accuracy and understanding of efficient and productive methods is essential.
