Job Summary: The Mountain Host Manager is responsible for leading a dynamic, guest-facing team that serves as a welcoming, informed, and responsive presence throughout the resort. This role manages all aspects of the Mountain Host program, including strategy, staffing, deployment, training, and real-time operational coordination. The Manager will lead Mountain Hosts as proactive guest ambassadors and operational partners who enhance flow, safety, and connection across the resort.

Salaried:

The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to experience, education, training, location, merit system, quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component of Palisades Tahoe Resort, LLC's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term and long-term incentives and many region-specific benefits.

Base salary range: $67,000- $83,000 per year

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following; other duties may be assigned:
  • Lead a team of Mountain Hosts, creating and sustaining a culture rooted in proactive service, safety, operational awareness, and guest connection.
  • Strategically deploy Hosts across resort zones to monitor guest flow, identify pinch points, and provide timely, accurate information to both guests and departments. Pivot team resources as needed to address emerging guest needs or challenges
  • Facilitate collaboration with departments including Dispatch, Patrol, Lift Operations, Events, Tickets, Transportation, Scanning, and Marketing to ensure Mountain Hosts support evolving resort operations in real time.
  • Train Hosts in guest engagement, conflict de-escalation, and resort knowledge. Use technology to improve communication and real-time response.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, payroll, performance evaluations, hiring, and training in compliance with company policies and applicable labor laws.
  • Track and manage labor budget, ensure efficient use of resources, and align staffing with traffic patterns, weather, and event needs.
  • Create and uphold safety standards and ensure compliance with all resort, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare reports, analyze team impact, and contribute strategic recommendations to improve guest satisfaction and operational efficiency


Competencies and Job Requirements:
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire, train, and guide diverse team members.
  • Keen operational awareness and the ability to anticipate guest needs and adapt to changing mountain conditions.
  • High emotional intelligence and guest empathy; able to turn frustrations into positive experiences.
  • Organized and proactive, with strong administrative and time management abilities.
  • Proficient ski or snowboard ability (intermediate or higher) required for safe and effective mountain mobility.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and resort operations platforms.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and maintain composure in fast-paced, high-traffic environments.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, see, and hear. Must be capable of walking or standing 85% or more of a normal 9 hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally carrying, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 45lbs. Must capable of occasionally squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, and balancing, able to climb ladders and shovel snow. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perceptions and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions:

Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee will frequently be exposed to extreme cold, wetness and/or humidity, and occasionally blizzards and extreme storm conditions.

Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the work place is usually moderate.

Education and Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in hospitality, recreation, or a related field preferred

Preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in guest service, resort operations, or hospitality
