The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is possibly looking for a Medical Simulation Operator to provide training support for our government customer in Baltimore, MD.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical expertise and support on operating a high-tech patient simulator system, assist in developing metrics to validate a simulation-based team training program. Will assist with the use of advanced learning technologies and methodologies to improve medical education and training for healthcare teams for the purpose of improving patient outcomes. Provide technical and analytic support for the Team Training Program at CSTARS Baltimore. Will be working with the USAFSAM CSTARS Baltimore personnel to provide digital video recording support, maintenance of existing equipment, analysis of team training measures, design of simulation scenarios, technical expertise in running simulators within a constrained/controlled simulation environment.
  • Will be using a "state-of-the-art", Learning Management system. Primary support will be used to view and evaluate rotators during the performance of initial and post trauma assessments for later analysis and end-of-scenario feedback of all team and leadership performance measures established by USAFSAM.
  • Will provide analysis gathering of team performance during pre and post-simulated conditions in order to establish correlation between pre and post performance. Utilize and complete collect and track simulation evaluation tools.
  • Assist with development, data collection, data analysis, and administration of all pre and post simulation scenarios.
  • Prepare training environments and recover equipment scheduled for training upon request by USAFSAM Staff.
  • Conduct orientation to the simulation equipment, environment and provide overview of the human patient simulator.
  • Assist in the management and support daily operations of the simulation training program.
  • Assist in the development of simulation program validation metrics.
  • Work cooperatively with the applicable program analysis, course curriculum advisors, course program director, IM/IT, medical logistics, and site simulation center leadership to identify operational needs. Based on these identified needs, shall develop recommendations to address simulation/course shortfalls.
  • Provide assistance to the program course director during the patient simulation scenario review process.
  • Develop and provide training, safety and maintenance materials appropriate to the operation of all simulation equipment as directed by the Simulation Program Coordinator or as warranted by operational necessity.
  • Attend all strategic planning meetings and teleconferences, as well as meetings and conferences for the purpose of improving the patient simulated course experience and delivery of course content.
  • Assist and provide guidance to simulation center set-up and shall provide consultative assistance to program course management regarding future site expansion, as well as high-fidelity HPS recommendations.
  • Ensure that simulation education, program key elements, and learning objectives are taken into account, and shall ensure simulation training outcome measurements meet course and skill sustainment requirements.
  • Be responsible for reporting needs regarding simulation supplies & equipment in support of course training scenarios targeted to meet identified learning objectives.
  • Effectively operate simulation equipment, task trainers, computerized Hi-fidelity simulators, and virtual reality procedural trainers individually or in combination with the ability to follow legitimate medical aspects of scenarios, and shall make appropriate adjustments based on participant actions or inactions PRN.
  • Create troubleshooting documents, simulation checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios for simulation equipment. These products will be forwarded to the program course director for review.
  • Support USAFSAM simulation research projects.
  • Assist with train-the-trainer activities and basic equipment troubleshooting items for the purpose of training additional cadre members.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Must meet the requirements and/or be in one of the following categories: a) Current in and maintain a National Registered Paramedic (NRP) or equivalent certification. b) Paramedic equivalent medical knowledge (with RN level preferred) as the Simulation operator to be able to manipulate physiological data and interpret participants response to simulated scenarios. c) Must maintain Basic Life Support-Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification. d)Five years of clinical experience in military or civilian setting.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required. Proficiency with word processing software and
    SharePoint applications is required.
  • Three (3) years' experience in the programming of human patient simulators using Laerdal, Gaumard , CAE operating systems & other simulation modalities.
  • Prior experience in course development and education methodology.
  • Knowledge of Trauma clinical skills, procedures, processes to include: AFMS Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs).
  • Knowledge and understanding of applicable Air Force and professional standards. Knowledge of military and civilian guidelines, policy & procedure through successful completion of USAFSAM's and Department's orientation programs is required.
  • Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
  • Must be able to lift > 50 pounds and human patient simulation equipment from one room to another, as well as, work in low-light, high auditory volume environments, and differing weather conditions simulating actual aeromedical evacuation missions.

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of military medical/military deployment experience.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems, Audio/visual solutions, moulage creation & application, hyper-realistic simulators and task-trainers.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be U.S. Citizen.
  • Must Pass a Tier 1 background check (T1)/SF85 and be eligible for a CAC card.
