The individual selected for this role will engage in a comprehensive one-year formal training program designed to equip them with the essential skills and knowledge required for the position of Sewage Planning Specialist 1. Throughout this training, the incumbent will undertake a range of planning and field activities aimed at ensuring adherence to the regulations set forth by the Sewage Facilities Act. This will involve facilitating meetings with local agency personnel to discuss planning requirements, thereby establishing the necessary content, scope, and timelines for various projects. Additionally, the trainee will analyze growth and development forecasts related to sewage facility plans, taking into account the associated costs involved in the preparation of these plans. This multifaceted approach will provide a solid foundation for the incumbent to effectively contribute to the planning and management of sewage facilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of technical experience in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or
• A bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, environmental health, geology, biology, ecology, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:

• This position requires possession of an active motor vehicle license.
