Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Corporate Foundation Relations leads, directs and coordinates all aspects of the Denver Health Foundation's Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) program by managing, facilitating and guiding the development of all strategies for current and prospective corporate and foundation donors with capacity to make significant commitment to the Denver Health Foundation. Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects. Develop relationships, cultivate donors, represent DHF at community events, and secure funds from personal portfolio of institutional prospects and manage team goals for securing significant philanthropic support from corporations and foundations. This role manages a team of gift officers and is responsible for building their skills, developing their expertise in philanthropy, and encouraging professional development and career growth.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage a team of CFR officers, met individual goals for portfolio as well as help team meet overall CFR goal. (25%)
  • Lead, direct and coordinate all aspects of the Foundation's Corporate and Foundation giving program, managing, facilitating and guiding the development of all strategies for current and prospective corporate and foundation donors with capacity to make significant commitment to Hospital. (25%)
  • Build and manage pipeline of corporate and foundation major gift prospects with a focus on accounts that have capacity in excess of $100,000. Work across teams to create strategy and present proposals to donors at highest level of institutional prospects; maintain individual proposal fundraising goal of $7-12M. (20%)
  • Develop key relationships with board members and influential community leaders to ensure strategic connections to key funders and prospective funders. (5%)
  • Collaborate with and support Hospital administrators, clinicians, and researchers in developing and implementing comprehensive fundraising plans that integrate the strategic priorities of the Hospital (10%)
  • Guide donor assignments, manage and guide strategy development, and monitor proposals to maximize staff productivity and to ensure the reliability of the pipeline. Utilize CRM system to build accurate data and reflect activities, proposals, plans for each donor. Establish plan for estimating revenue over time and build successful strategy for cultivating national foundation donors to give to Denver Health. (10%)
  • Serve as expert in institutional giving, lead strategy and build culture of philanthropy across hospital. (5%)

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree required.

Work Experience:

  • 10+ years fundraising experience, with a successful track record of securing six-figure or larger gifts from corporations and/or foundations required.
  • 4-6 years management experience with professional fundraising staff required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to persuasively promote the Hospital's mission in patient care, program development, education, and research. Effectively communicate complex medical information to both lay and professional audiences. Exceptional organizational and managerial skills directing, coaching and inspiring corporate and foundation relations staff.
  • Organizational and managerial skills involving administrative processes and in directing the work of colleagues and support staff.
  • Self-starter with refined development techniques and demonstrated strategies for an expanded role in an aggressive development campaign.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a fundraising team.
  • Local and regional travel required.
  • Working knowledge of computer software including Microsoft Office a requirement with knowledge of Raiser's Edge and Salesforce helpful.

  • Poised and engaging, empathetic communications style based on natural warmth and enthusiasm.
  • Fast-paced and results oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements.
  • Strong written, presentation, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstration of good judgement, professionalism and the highest standards of ethical conduct.
