The City of Aspen is an Equal Opportunity Employer Job Title: Early Childhood Teacher (Substitute) Hiring Salary Range: $25.45/hour - $28.64/hour [Salary Range: $25.45/hour - $38.18/hour] Position Summary: Provides substituting, mentoring, and release time for licensed childcare staff providers consistent with the organization's values and mission statement. Supervision Exercised and Received: Position works under the general supervision of the Kids First Co-Manager of Programming. Essential Job Functions: Substituting * Substitutes in licensed early childhood education programs, in Pitkin County, serving children ages 6 weeks to 5 years according to priorities approved by Kids First. Responsibilities include lifting children, diaper changing, indoor and outdoor activities, quality interactions with young children, being responsible for groups of 3-10 children, written and verbal parent communication, classroom clean up, sweeping, moping, and vacuuming at the end of the day. Responsibilities may also include food preparation, toileting, hand washing, and caring for ill children until parents arrive. Travel to childcare programs in Pitkin County is required. Training * Completes and maintains all required trainings to maintain Early Childhood Teacher Credential 2.0 within designated timeframe. Co-creates and follows professional development plan to maintain ECT credential. Supports the training and mentoring of the Intern. * Learns and uses quality assessment tools to provide informal modeling in the classroom. Disseminates information and promotes Kids First services and programs. Coordination * Coordinates the substitute schedule with childcare programs and other teachers and maintains communication with Kids First staff. Coordinates Intern's schedule for substitute teaching. Communicates scheduling with childcare directors and teachers. Administrative * Maintains records for accurate billing and demonstrated need for substitutes in licensed childcare programs. Assists with administrative duties in the Kids First office when required. Attends Kids First staff meetings and other training as required. Core Competencies: Displays the following key competencies in the overall job performance to include knowledge, skills, and abilities: Minimum Requirements: Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in Early Childcare program development, implementation, and evaluation. Technical Knowledge: Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (Email). Must have a basic understanding of computers and online computer-based technology applications, which includes accessing web-based platforms. Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License or be able to obtain one within 30 days of start date. NOTE: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required abilities, knowledge, and skills as determined by the City of Aspen may be substituted for the requirements above. Preferred Candidate: Current CPR-First Aid Certification. Fluent in Spanish. NOTE: This position requires a Criminal Background Check upon hire.
