Your Impact As a Manager, Benefits at Fountain House, you are responsible for the full coordination and oversight of employee benefits. Your role extends far beyond processing enrollments and managing vendor relationships. You will directly influence the health, financial stability, and overall experience of every employee across the organization. You will be fully engaged with the operation of benefit systems such as Paylocity (HRIS) and employer administration portals. As a Manager, Benefits you will be the example of a professionally engaged employee and transform policies into support systems, regulations into real-world protection, and paperwork into peace of mind for all union and non-union employees. Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm Hybrid: Minimum x3 days per week in office $90,000 - $95,000
Requirements
Key Responsibilities Benefits Administration & Strategy
- Oversee all benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement (403b), voluntary supplemental plans, leave of absence, and wellness offerings
- Determines eligibility for all new hires as well as for any position changes.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, accessibility, and transparency.
- Assists employees regarding benefits issues, life status changes, plan changes, and enrollment opportunities; Responds to all benefit inquiries.
- Ensures all benefit vendor invoices are accurate; tracks and monitors any invoice discrepancies to ensure resolution.
- Review and process union dues payments to DC-37 monthly to ensure continued participation.
- Reviews and processes all applications for tuition assistance and employee wellness/training in accordance with policies in employee handbook and CBA.??
- Supports Director of People and Culture in researching, analyzing plan options, and conducting cost analysis of new plans.?
Staff Support & Education
- Acts as main point of contact for all employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, retirement, voluntary supplemental plans, and paid/unpaid leave of absence.
- Facilities benefits onboarding presentation for new hires and lead annual Open Enrollment process including coordination with insurance brokers and Paylocity (HRIS).
- Assists employees with questions about Employer Retirement Plan (403b) and supports Employee Retirement Education Series.?
- Design and implement benefits education and wellness initiatives to drive employee experience and engagement.
- Regularly participates in community events such as the weekly State of Fountain House and Community Meeting.?
- Contribute to cross-functional people team initiatives that strengthen employee satisfaction; participate in community and staff events modeling commitment to organization mission and vision.
Compliance & Operations
- Process, administer, track all leave-of-absence programs, including paperwork with vendors for medical, disability, Paid Family Leave (NYPFL), FMLA, and Workers Comp.??
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including records, tracks, and administers the steps needed to comply with COBRA and continuation of employee benefits.?
- Manages all required actions of the ACA lookback process?
- Ensures data accuracy across HR systems, employee 1095-C forms, manage benefit audits, and collaborate with Finance on invoice payments.?

- Awareness and sensitivity to the needs and concerns of individuals from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and orientations, including those living with serious mental illness.
What You Bring Required
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 4 years of professional work experience on Human Resources teams, including employee benefits and Open Enrollment responsibilities.?
- Outstanding communication and comfortable communicating with employees across all levels.?
- Comfortable presenting to staff virtually or in-person and providing them with training resources.?
- Demonstrated ability to establish oneself as a trusted advisor within the organization.?
Preferred
- Master's degree or HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR or CEBS certification).
- Experience in a nonprofit, mental health, or unionized setting.
- Proficiency in Paylocity or other integrated HRIS platforms.
