Job Description: Dynamo Technologies LLC is seeking a Marine Engineer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG) Office of Boat Forces (CG-731) under the Technical Writing and Engineering Documentation Support Services contract. The Marine Engineer will provide technical expertise and documentation support in the development, revision, and reformatting of Coast Guard Boat Operator's Handbooks (BOHs) and other operational documents related to boat equipment, training, and crew certification. This role requires a strong background in marine engineering principles and experience translating complex technical information into clear, concise, and operationally relevant guidance. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Coast Guard operations and documentation standards and demonstrate an ability to collaborate with technical subject matter experts and program managers to ensure accuracy and consistency across boat classes and operational manuals. Note: This is a remote part-time position (20 hours per week) Duties/ Responsibilities:
Responsible for creating and reviewing the technical content of the BOHs. Assist the Office of Boat Forces (CG-731) with preparing, reformatting, and revising BOHs for Coast Guard boats. Assist in the creation, editing and reformatting of other documents related to the equipment, training, and crew certification necessary for Coast Guard boat operations. Provide the technical support to develop content for the BOHs and review them for technical accuracy, clarity, and consistency. Work with the COR, to prioritize and schedule the reformatting, creation, and revision of BOHs under this contract. Shall conform to the "Boat Operator's Handbook Style Guide" in the creation, reformatting, and modification of all CGBOHs. The Style Guide fully describes the format, content, and terminology of a BOH in the CGBOH format and ensures that the BOHs are created and modified in a manner that allows them to be updated in the future and easily viewed over the Coast Guard intranet. As new formatting information is developed, team members will update the Style Guide. As with the BOHs, all parts of the Style Guide shall be editable by any individual with a basic understanding of MS Word, and with no degradation to the remainder of the document. Create new BOHs for new classes of Coast Guard boats as determined by the project prioritization. Shall reformat BOHs from the COMDTINST format to the CGBOH format in accordance with the Style Guide for existing classes of Coast Guard boats as determined by the project prioritization. Shall revise existing BOHs as determined by the project prioritization. These revisions are typically either corrections or clarifications of information in the BOH or reflect approved modifications to the boats that have been documented through Time Compliant Technical Orders (TCTO) or other engineering changes. Coordinate with the client as directed to the create, edit and reformat other documents related to the equipment, training and crew certification necessary for Coast Guard boat operations.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard or military maritime operations, standards, and documentation practices. Strong technical writing and editing skills with the ability to produce detailed and accurate engineering documents. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document formatting tools. Excellent communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail. U.S. Citizenship required
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Prior experience developing or editing U.S. Coast Guard Boat Operator's Handbooks or similar technical manuals. Knowledge of COMDTINST and CGBOH formats and standards. Experience working in a collaborative environment with engineering and operations teams. Secret clearance
Education and Experience:
5 years' experience in naval architecture and/or marine engineering and a BS in a related engineering field. An additional 10 years' experience may be substituted for the educational requirement (15 years' experience total in naval architecture and/or marine engineering).
Travel Requirement:
