We are currently seeking a Inspector to support our growing team in our Baltimore, MD office.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Inspector will be responsible for ensuring contractors compliance through reviewing interpreting and enforcing of plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractor's work, and shall:



  • Experience in overseeing project staff including inspectors, office engineers,
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in planning and conducting project meetings
  • Knowledge of the SHA Partnering Program
  • Ability to interpret Site Plans
  • Apply knowledge and experience towards the inspection of roadways and bridges using SHA standards, specifications, and procedures
  • Apply engineering principals in the inspection and documentation of construction activities
  • Oversee and aid in the approval of Field Changes to meet field conditions.
  • Oversee, direct, and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees
  • Maintain comprehensive project records and documentation using eMCMS and eConstruction software.
  • Experience in using MMS for Material Clearance
  • Knowledge of SHA Payroll Compliance procedures
  • Conduct testing of materials following MODT/SHA Standards and Specifications
  • Oversee the installation and maintenance of Erosion and Sediment Control devices to insure the are placed per the approved plan and within required specifications.
  • Apply Best Management Practices to safety activities
  • Communicate with various stakeholders including Localities and SHA
  • Assist SHA with the development of change orders, investigations, and the analysis of Notices of Intents to File Claims
  • Ability to Physically perform essential duties such as, Walking, Standing, Bending, and lifting loads weighing up to 80lbs.


Qualifications:

The Senior Inspector qualifications for this role include:



  • 6 years' experience in roadway or bridge construction inspection
  • Knowledge and experience with Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations
  • Experience in providing underground utility inspection and sewer pipeline inspection (preferred)
  • Must be current with the following certifications or the ability to obtain:

    • Mid-Atlantic Region Technician Certification Program (MARTCP)
    • Concrete
    • Asphalt
    • Soils & Aggregates (Including Nuclear Gauge)
    • Pavement Markings
    • Sediment and Erosion Control
    • Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) Responsible Personnel Certification (RPC), formally called Green Card
    • SHA Erosion and Sediment Control Yellow Card (when on SHA ROW)
    • Temporary Traffic Control Manager


  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Safety
  • Experience operating computer equipment, software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, and field-testing equipment
  • Must have a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
  • Required to work various shifts and on weekends
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Able to pass criminal background check
