Connects community members to valuable services and resources within their community to support the improvement of their overall wellbeing.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Provides safe and effective services
  • Adheres to policies related to safety and boundaries with service recipients.
  • Attends safety and abuse risk management training as assigned.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising service recipients.
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Connects community members to services
  • Demonstrates understanding of protective factors that promote child wellbeing, individual and community level trauma and its impact, best practices in preventing child abuse and neglect, and disparities and disproportionalities in public systems.
  • Screens families to determine which families need referrals to outside service providers and which will be referred to BT Model services.
  • Ensures that the local juvenile court, schools, state agencies, youth and family service organizations, family in need of services, other agencies, and community members comprehend the process and reasons for referring families to the program.
  • Educates community members about child wellbeing and how Boys Town aims to increase and improve support to families to improve child, family, and community wellbeing.
  • Collaborates with teams to establish and maintain positive connections with community members and organizations.
  • Collaborates closely with the Family Services Specialist to provide case management support for families in need.
  • Designs and implements strategies to connect families to each other and build natural networks of support.
  • Utilizes internal and external data management systems to enter data and monitor trends.
  • Tracks and reports required qualitative and quantitative data to program directors and contracting agencies.
  • Reports to program directors and utilizes contracting agencies for support in the implementation of responsibilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to be culturally competent in the identified community.
  • Knowledge of community resources and to leverage relationships to meet identified community needs.
  • Ability to communicate with community members to understand community strengths and needs.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective community relationships.
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment, meet deadlines, and multi-task while achieving established performance expectations.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt responses to situations while maintaining procedural and regulatory integrity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of identified community required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience collaborating with agencies and families preferred.
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out activities and behaviors that reflect the values and principles of the Boys Town mission.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
